Have you guys who work with aviation magazines ever pitched the idea of a piece on nose/door art? I thought about seeing if any of the local A-10 base papers would be interested, to help get the word of my book/web project wider dissemination but, it’s never made it pass the thought stage.

An article may bring unwanted attention to the subject but hey, if the subject can’t stand the light of day <img src=newicons/anim_shock.gif border=0 align=middle> then it wouldn’t be my fault now would it? <img src=newicons/anim_lol.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=newicons/saevil.gif border=0 align=middle>

I'm sure 30MM jr would let him clean a fuel filter screen and repack a main gear brake.<img src=icon_smile_evil.gif border=0 align=middle>

This subject may be treading in dangerous waters but, maybe it's time to shake things up a bit. I mean look at it, the only one who may get pissed-off, or shown in a bad light, by the subject is ACC and they don't allow art anyway so what does ACC A-10 units have to lose? Unless you think ACC could put enough pressure on the Guard/Researves/PACAF to have them remove art from their jets...think that could happen?

Also, as these guys who write for a living know, how a piece is received depends on how it’s written. It can be written in a accusing tone pointing out the differences in the AFIs both in wording and application or, it can be written in a good light high-lighting the art and it‘s historical ties. A piece would not have to put anybody on the defensive and it could have benefits to the A-10 community as a whole.

BTW I have a 5 and 15 year old, keeping a 3 year old would be a break for me!

Not sure if it may be a little too specialised for the usual aviation magazines, no harm in trying though as I'm sure you'd pitch it in a positive way.

Maybe a good start would be Hill's newspaper, but I wouldn't expect more than a page or two with a couple of pictures and a few hundred words. The hard part is shrinking all that knowledge you have into a small, bite-sized, feature that will hold the readers attention.

Another possible outlet would be a modelling mag, that might be your best bet.
