Egress trainer tool. It is used for practicing egress techniques for pilots and for training egress technicians on proper maintenance. M&M a member on this forum is an Instructor for these training tools. They are also used for cockpit familiarity training for just about everybody. They make them for every airframe in the inventory FWIW. The bomber ones must be interesting though. "Some pup" Nickname by Fenderstrat72 |

Technically its a egress procedures trainer. the pilots use it to practice their ejection procedures. The one I use is identical to this one and for the most part its used for annual egress fam training. |

They also can be used for maint training such as apu training and eng run training. the instructor can create eng problem so the student can practice emergency conditions. JB Unitam logica falsa tuam philosophiam totam suffodiant!!!! |

That partucular trainer doesnt have any capabilities for engine or apu operation. They have gauges in the cockpit but are only for show. The canopy goes up and down as does the seat. The manual release system works as well (although not realistically). |

Most just have printed panels for most of it. No switches or anything, but that's mostly because for egress training, 90% of the controls are irrelevant, and so they don't waste time with it. Most units have multi-purpose ones though, last I knew. They do egress, but also a lot of other stuff with them. "Some pup" Nickname by Fenderstrat72 |

Agree with JBPig about it also being used for APU and Engine run, when I went through initial training that's what they used. The instructor would stand by the side and say, ok you've got an engine fire what do you do,,, always felt it was kind of funny since it didn't have anything that actually worked but it did allow for familiarization training. capche-capche da - we go forward together Faugh ah Ballaugh -Clear The Way- |

Dittos, we have one with gauges that dont work also. But it was good for familliarization when we did our engine run class. By this time tomorrow I shall have gained either a pearage or Westminster Abbey........Nelson |

That would be a very lame cockpit trainer for emegencies.....would have better just to use the real thing if you were going to pretend. |
