With all the talk of LGBs and the A-10 I thought I would let you guys in on this... This is a photo of an OIF top secret mission code named “bikini-bottom”. It was a two-fold mission to increase the accuracy of the GBU-12 Paveway II and get the United States kids behind the Iraqi war effort. It took place on Feb. 30th 2003 at a “classified” location and was carried by aircraft 82-0666 of the previously unknown 13th TFG Langley AFB VA. “166” has 2,221 rivets, is painted gray, and carries one crew member. I only know of this because of a stupid mistake made by the HQ/ACC when they posted this picture on their official website…… http://www.acc.af.mil/area51.html <img src="http://www.anfam.com/wtphotos/bob1.jpg" border=0> Ugly But Well Hung |

Practically half our APG flight (myself and Hitler included) lived in the same trailer park in Spring Lake. They say that the only two things certain in life are death and taxes. I prefer them in that order. |

You was really there - at this time (I think) as an A/OA-10A crew chief from Pope. And I´m sure you know all of the "secret" details of this deployment. I was never in the "sand box". I only play with bucket and shovel from outside - via internet. And that works! According to WRAL TV reporter Ken Smith, an "embedded" journalist during the main combat phase of OIF, "Spring Lake (Forward)" was a small and separately compound at Ahmed Al Jaber AB, Kuwait - at this time home of the 332nd AEW. In one of his "Letters from the Middle East" Ken Smith told on April 2, 2003: "The men and women of the 75th [he means the 75th FS, 23rd FG] have a sense of humor, as well. Their PX, recreation room and other offices are set up in mobile homes. They've renamed the area ´Spring Lake Forward.´ There's even a sign offering mobile homes and lots for rent. They told me the people around Fort Bragg and Pope would get a kick out of that." For full story click: http://www.wral.com/news/2053073/detail.html Meanwhile, a logistical support area (LSA) "Spring Lake" was created in Iraq. According to defendamerica.mil and Multi-National Corps Iraq Public Affairs Office, LSA "Spring Lake" is located within the perimeter of Camp Taqqadum - well used by USMC aircraft. Not to worry, tents are still the preferred quick fix for a lack housing accommodations. I never though it was possible to squeeze more troops into a tent until I visited one of the tents which they had installed bunk beds in. <img src="http://www.anfam.com/wtphotos/tent.jpg" border=0> capche-capche da - we go forward together Faugh ah Ballaugh -Clear The Way- |
