New to the forum, I found out a week ago that I have been selected to fly the Hog. It was my first choice. I'll graduate on the 23rd of September, but don't have an IFF date yet. I can't wait to get to DM! |

razorback, Congrats. Your going to have the best time of your life here at DM. I've been in FTU for about 8 weeks and I've aready dropped about 40 BDU's and fired over a 1000 rds from the mighty Avenger. There is no better feeling on the planet than squeezing that trigger, your eyes feel like there going to vibrate out of your fucking skull, mayhem ensues on the grnd, the gun gasses pass through the ram air system and get recycled through the cockpit, you drop your mask and you just want to scream with satisfaction. Are you an ENJUPT dude? If you went to JSUPT it will probally be a while before you go to IFF im assuming. While your waiting for your IFF date stay in the books and try to fly (sandbag) as much as possible. IFF is a pain in the ass and two of my friends from Vance (both had A10's) have washed out in the past couple of weeks for STUPID shit. You will be fine if you just keep up on your basic flying skills. ie RJ's Tac form, ect... Bust your ass now and it will be worth it when you get to DM. |

Good point Coach. You can take it easy at DM, but it is a hell of a lot more fun. |

Thanks for the welcome. I just graduated from ENJJPT this past Friday night. I found out on Thursday that I'm going to Barksdale with two other dudes from my class for FTU. Any gouge available on the Shreve? On another note, I will be starting IFF here on Nov 8. They are really pushing me and the other guys through. We start FTU on Jan 23. |

Congrats Warthog30, what an awesome career! Have you been able to fly every assignment? We got our drop and I put in my dream sheet this week... We'll find out monday/tuesday. My first choice was Eielson. Dudes in my class are duking it out for all the osan, spang/DM slots... And as it turns out, If I don't get Eielson I'll probally get Pope which would be cool with me. I decided that I would rather try to do the 2yr Osan gig as a second assignment. Then maybe get to the FTU.... who knows though, I just konw that I want to fly my entire career (and never have to do a UAV assignment). Congrats again |

Less'n yer a patch wearer, it's probably a safre bet that you'll do one Ops tour then an Alpha tour. Nope, I was non-rated for 5 years before UPT. Flying your entire career is nearly impossible outside the Guard. ATTACK!!!!!!! |

I won't get my orders for a while, but I should be getting there late jan/early feb. Do you know how far away the closest ski mountain is? |
|

Mouse, that's where I was last assignment. Closest ski mountain? Well, there are some little ones nearby. Most folks head down to Aleyeska for skiing, in Anchorage, about an 8 hour drive (in summer...never drove the Denali Highway in winter). But the skiing is great there. Flying is awesome, ranges are close and huge, Your first "glacier tour" you'll crap your flightsuit. You can fly all day out west and not cross a road. 500' over the whole state and 300' in the MOA, which is the size of Washington (the state, not the city). Congrats... ATTACK!!!!!!! |
