Here’s one of the A-10C’s out the back of a C-130 flying over the Great Salt Lake and Antelope Island during a check flight.

A Pulitzer or World Press price for this photo. The first shot is the best, look how cool the men there sit on the back of an Hercules.

So, why are they sitting on the door like that? I'd think there's better ways, if they just want someone to watch it fly. Or was this a photo op?

Ignorance may be bliss, but it sure ain't fun!

I swore I write this earlier...but this could be why it takes so long for SLEP. They are out doing this kind of stuff with your jets.

I thought someone might take a pot-shot at depot when I posted this but, I didn't think it would be you Coach... <img src=icon_smile_dissapprove.gif border=0 align=middle>

Having worked with the depot, and soon to be working in the depot, I guess I could reture fire by saying something about the shape the jets are in when they come here or, the funding for O&A being given by the commands (or not given in lot of cases) but, I will just let this one go.

Ultimately, it's always about the money isn't it Dice. A year and a half ago, I sat at a meeting with, among other people, Eielson's wing commander and Col. Donahue. When Col Donahue opened the floor for a Q and A period, the Wing King (whose name escapes me at the moment but he was headed to ACC shortly)expressed his displeasure concerning the proposed engine upgrade. Col. Donahue's answer was "you give me the dollars, I'll give you whatever you want as long as it doesn't tear the wings off my airplanes". As far as I know, nothing has changed which tells me that despite the Wing Kings' promise of more money, there was no more funding headed towards the hawg.

OC, as far as I know no "new money" has come into that program. You're also right about the money that's what it all comes down to, you can have the best idea/program for a weapons system anyone has ever see but, if you don't have th $$ you will not get it on the aircraft. Also you can get the money for a program and when you start opening-up an aircraft to do the mod, becasue of the state of the aircraft, you can find 20 more things that need to be funded/fixed, it a never ending cycle.

That's what's happening with my jet right now. Its' return date was pushed back about a month because of some cracks/corrosion found inside it after the wing was removed.
