I am flying to Vegas tommorow to attend the air show at Nellis and was a little disappointed there was no hog on the schedule this year. Does anyone know if its performing and maybe its a typo that its not on the schedule? I hope so. |

The offical A-10 demo website doesn't show either the east or west coast team at Nellis this weekend. Sorry looks like you're out of luck seeing the Hawg fly this weekend. Ugly But Well Hung |

I heard there was some sort of conflict with the West coast team that going to scheduled. We did two HAWGs on static though. I think there will be a fly by too. I hear the racer's won't be fixed this year either. Should be a good show. I'll be there. |

Went the show yesterday. Not only was there no A-10 flying but no C-17, C-5, B-1, B-52, B-2, F-14, A-6, or F-18. Out of all the WWII bombers only the B-24's showed. The racers weren't much too see and would have all gotten spanked at the Reno Air Races. The word "sucked" comes to mind for this years show. Plus the PE static that we spent several 12 hour shifts cleaning for the show got pulled and replaced by a weapons school jet without even an open cockpit. Oh well, there always next year. |

Yea, but this show signals the end of their season so we don't have to put up with thier noisy routines and quite hours with no flight line movement for a while. |

Well I went and I would agree it wasnt as good as years past as far as the static display and of course no hog flying. What was with the guns on the two hogs being chromed out? Are they functional? Here are a few pics I took. I was quite surprised to see a mig 29 parked out there is that a captured Iraqi plane? |

JMF422nd, I take it that this tail number 75-0301 is your Weapons Load Trainer? Nice paint job for a static trainer. Does anything in the cockpit still work? |

bigpaul, Typically chromed out gun muzzles are for static display only. It would require entirely too much work to keep them looking that way if they fired the gun through it on a daily basis and I’m not sure it would be able to withstand that kind of abuse. capche-capche da - we go forward together Faugh ah Ballaugh -Clear The Way- |

Well kungfu, Nellis is a "Show Pony" base if I ever saw one! You might be a "Bulldog" if: You bend over and grab your ankles when you hear: "EXERCISE, EXERCISE, EXERCISE!" |

well I'm glad to see I wasn't the only one disapointed with the aircraft flying at Nellis, or lack their of.... I understand this was a Welcome Home to the Vets and I really liked the Bronco/Sandies,Spooky,Dragonfly display. But all the civilian aircraft really kill me. I also was hoping for a B-1 or B-2 fly by from Edwards, more Aggressors F-16s out on display and of course A-10s in the air. I was also hoping for a Pavehawk display The EAA racers, T-6 stuff was just a break to hit the can or grab some food. The F-22 flight made it all worth it though. 3 days of seeing that fly was incredible! Kungfu, 301 is a weapons load trainer. And yes the cockpit is still complete and configured/ That is for a declassed, INS bird with too many wiring shorts to count. But hey BLING BLING and a nice paint job make up for it, eh. Our other static had some Bling Bling brought out just for the ocasion too. As for the "show pony" base it sure as hell is. That why we are relegated to LOLA for events like this. If you squint and look real hard across the base you can see the real work horses still being worked, if you were at the airshow. Nellis is a funny animal, always lots goin on. |
