I don't know what it was first painted on but, I know it was found in one form or another on a number of WWII aircraft like the British Lancaster. Most of the WWII aircraft used the "ready 4 Duty" spelling. |

That same image has appeared on a whole bunch of warbirds, normally under the name \"Sleepy Time Gal\". The image originated as a piece of pin-up artwork by Gil Elvgren. |
