This was originally posted on grouchymedia.com a while back. It wasn't created by the guy who runs grouchymedia, but he also hosts some of the best pump-you-up-to-kill-the-bad-guys videos.

I've yet to see a UAV hover. Besides, the "D" variant is called the "Warrior" and quite a different animal from it's Jet Ranger progenator. 1/6 CAV flies them here nearly every day. Matter of fact, was talking to one of their pilots yesterday and they got gunnery coming up in a few weeks. The 3 Pavehawks visiting should finish up their gunnery this week as should the Chinook unit here. Don't know what the Pavehawks will be up to when they leave, but the hooks will be deploying shortly. It'll be quieter around here with them not here to roost.

Or strafe.
Or insert/exfil a scout team
Or play NOE hunter-killer(which the Delta is GOOD at)
Or provide truly close-in air support
Like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XZvWoK8mbqw

I once saw a UH-1 Huey perform a strafing run down the entire length of a valley against a M60A3TTS main battle tank during field manuevers at Fort Sill, and the pilot came within a foot of ramming the tank before he pulled up slightly just before impact. As the Huey tore passed the tank the 60 gunner slewed the turret unto the retreating helo and tracked it all the way out of the valley.
To this day, that's still one of the most awesome things i've ever seen in person. :)
