The following quote is from the chairman of Air France; Spinetta praised the plane's crew for doing its job professionally, "which explains that we have no dead people in this crash." Ummmm, excuse me but wasn't it the crew who put them 15 feet down a ravine in the first place? Did I miss something? And speaking of professionalism, one passenger was quoted that the cabin attendant said "everything's fine"..as she was looking out the window watching the wing get ripped off. OC |

as we all know, the french are very experienced when it comes to running away from something. this might have helped here... <img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle> ok, seriously, no matter which airline it´s great that everybody survived!! as far as I know the co-pilot was landing the plane, and he attempted to land the plane one time before and had to abort the landing. perhaps he pressed it too hard on the second time. Isn't the pilot usually the most experienced member of the flying crew? If that's the case, why was the co-pilot trying to land the Airbus is what appears to have been a vertical river. Especially after a previous abort... Perhaps the pilot didn't want to interupt his coffee and pastry... Anyhow it's good to see everybody walk - sorry run, away from that one. Probably one of those, "Hey, can i land this time?" deals. The pilot was just probably being nice to the guy...not expecting his buddy to ditch their Airbus into a ravine. But I read that the Co-Pilot on this flight was already 43 years old and an experienced pilot. Dont know how old the pilot was though. "Did you know? Sorry Homer, It's an old and very politically incorrect UK joke based on the fact that women can't park cars. So the same might be true of landing an Airbus. But I like the idea that an Air hostess might have been up front 'distracting' the pilots. I'll go no futher, I have no desire to get another thread locked out... He has to get his hours in before he can get captain status. Someone really screwed up here. Either the flight crew botched the landing or if it was as bad as they say it was the canadian air traffic controllers should have diverted the flight to another airport. well that incident was caused by a botched approach combined with a lack of power to "un-botch" the mistake and if I recall corectly that was a lightly loaded plane with some "looky-loos" on board.
