I was just wondering, what is the requirements now to Run engines on the Hog?
I had run license on T-39's as a 2 Stripper until they \"Crashed one into a crane\" in Germany killing all 3 on board doing a OP's Ck.
I had just got it then had it taken away. Got it back in Japan when I made
SRA, by special orders.
Got my run license run on the hog pretty fast by my first fall at EAFB as a Buck Sgt.
Then on C-141's all I could do was \"Ride BRAKES and APU operations\" and started \"Engine run \"Idle\" school when I got word I could get out of the service.
C-141'S you had to go to 4 differant courses to run engines on them.

I was scheduled for eng run class in Korea as a SrA (had a line # at the time) like 4 times, but they kept canceling the whole class. Finally got it as a Staff at Eielson (7 lvl CDC's complete, before 7 lvl school). Hardly anybody is eng run qualified here, I'm the only person on swings who can do it (counting specs and engs). I don't recall except 1 time anybody being below Staff and having eng run.

Goose what year did the T39 thing happen. If it was the one I remember it was 82-83 time frame if it was no one died both of the boneheads got out over the wing but Big Bertha didnt make it it was written off along with the aircraft. it was found that they didnt tie it down and had a low fuel load and it jumped chockes. It was something to see the T39 missed a tanker of 110 octain av gas from the aero club by about ten feet.

When I was at Osan they initially scheduled me for engine run (SRA) but then a "friend" told them I planned on getting out so he got my slot...and yeah, I WAS PISSED...but oh well...

I think 21-101 has criteria but I dont know what it is. I believe it is staff with a 7 level but I am not sure.

Thats the one Goob, I thought they had died, that was the story we got at Scott , its been along time. I knew a Crane was involved .

But that was the reason they \"Yanked\" our Engine run Cert. on T-39's you had to be an E-4 or have special orders but no one under E-4.
They wanted everyone with a 5 level to be engine run qualified until that happened.

Yup, looked through 21-101 today...

Paragraph 14.15.2.1.

Personnel will be selected IAW criteria established in Table 14.1. of this instruction. Be a minimum of SrA and have a minimum five-skill level. MXG/CCs may waive qualified five-skill level A1C for critical manpower shortages.

Also, I believe it is a minimum 12-month airframe experience.
