This email was found on an old goverment computer which proves Kerry's swift-boat story true......

December 23 1968

I would like to pass along my thanks to the A-10 “Warthog” driver and REO Maj. Tusk and Capt. Hawg, who saved a couple of swift-boats on the Mekong river today. I received a cell-phone call early this morning from the commander of one of the swift-boats, Commander John Kerry, expressing his gratitude to the A-10 crew. Major Tusk’s heroism flying his A-10B two-seat Thunderbolt II was instrumental in in stopping an attack by NVC regulars on Commander Kerrie’s boat.

Major Tusk and his REO, Capt. Hawg, made repeated attacks using LGB’s, napalm, and the 25mm 6 barrel Vulcan cannon to stop an attack from the shore on Commander Kerry’s boat. After taking numerous hits on their aircraft Maj. Tusk and Capt. Hawg continued to attack the NVC and protect the swift-boats as they made their way passed the ambush. On the last pass Maj. Tusk and Capt Hawg’s aircraft took a MANPAD hit to the right engine forcing Maj. Tusk to jettison the engine. Only because of the great courage of the warthogs crew and the redundant design of the A-10B were they able to power out of the area and make it home using only the afterburner of the #1 engine.

We have no idea how your actions today may affect the future but I’m sure your courage will not be forgotten by the crews of the swift-boats. You actions reflect great credit on yourself and the United States Air Force.
