Not really if you build some of your own stuff and buy in the "off season" you can make a great display without breaking the bank. To me it's all about feeling and not how many high $$ props you have. You can make your house look "boarded-up" and very spooky with a couple simple rolls of black tape. Yea you need a couple of nice props but it's how they are displayed that makes the differance.
I'm thinking "Dead Rock Cafe" next year....
