Sounds like working the Nellis Flightline!<img src=newicons/anim_lol.gif border=0 align=middle>

I remember we did the old "Lets Fry an Egg on the Wing" trick once at Nellis. It worled but not good enough that I would have ate it like some of the idiots did!<img src=newicons/anim_puke.gif border=0 align=middle>

I thank the good lord above that when I was assigned to Nellis I did not work main base and have to put up with that heat full time. The TDY's were enough!

But on the other hand, its a surprise when you sign into your squadron on Nellis, knowing how hot it is there, and they issue you a parka, parka pants and muchalucks (SP?)! I think I might finally pull that stuff out of the bags it was issued in and use it now that I am living in Santa Goose Land!

Never could work the line all bundled up like the Staypuff Marshmallow Man!

Hogsnort,

I did a Red Flag with F-15's from Bitburg back in 1981. What a switch in weather from Germany to Nellis. I remember walking from the BX back to the line and the only time I knew I was sweating was when I bent my elbow and the sweat collected where the upper and lower arm came together. When I straightened out my arm it evaporated in about 2 seconds. That opened my eyes and I drank LOTS of fluids after that. I don't think I've ever been anywhere hotter than Nevada in August. My hat's off to all those serving in Iraq or anywhere in SW Asia..

My last REDFLAG, was in Feb89 it snowed about 5" and by noon you we're in just your Shirt.
But it was Cold at night.Travis was the same way except not quit as hot.

Now FHAID AB was so DAMN HOT when we walked-off the KC-10 Aug 26th 1990 The cabin when the doors opened produced FOG! for about 5 sec's
They gave us Winter sleeping bag's 2 sheets later on and a Blow-up air matterss.
You would rest all day until about 1700 and you would pick-up your mattress and see how much "SWEAT POOLED" on the floor.
We didnt get A/C until late Sept. You would burn your hands on the jet, without gloves but by Oct. it started getting cooler at night like around 70 and you would get "Cold".
Nov after Thanksgiving and going to KKMC it SNOWED 2X's and the Water Bufflo froze, but by MID dayit was in the 80'S.

Now We came out of the SOUTH humidity 90% and in the upper 90's sweating all over dripping down your face in your eyes But I still after getting use to it at KFIA didnt think it was that hot because you didnt feel the sweat.

I just remember the Salt stains in your uniforms and making sure you drank that "Hot Damn Water".

I just really dont know how we did it,just glad the AIRWAR started in Jan because at least your werent sweating in that hot Chem Gear turning jets".
COLD AT NIGHT.HOT DURING THE DAY YOU CAN HAVE IT.

about 4 years ago i worked with a guy who was in the Marine Reserve. he told me he spent his 2 weeks in the desert of california. saying it was 120 degrees.

when he got back to Michigan, it was 90 degrees and 100% humidity all week and he was walking around in 3 sweatshirts saying he was still cold. imagine the weather last week and walking around with that on.

i bet thats a good way to mess up your body doing huge climate shifts like that.

I was in Kuwait July 2004 and it was hot.

<img src="http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i277/44hollowpoint/tempf.jpg" border=0>

This was inside one of the portacabins.

The cooler temp was inside the comms room that had 'some' air-con. Strange how many comms faults we had that trip.

Problem was we were over for client meetings, so it was shirt, tie and jacket all the way.
