This looks like something useful for my next fursuit. Cost-benefit analysis is needed though. Anyone know where I could get info on a civie version or something?

Haven't seen that particular style but I do know there is a civi version which uses a vest with water which can be frozen.

I'd check with a costume/party supply shop.
Many of your full body suits have a system for cooling. I refer to costumes or outfits like what are worn by major sports mascots.

None of the suits at AC this year had much in the way of body cooling. People will stick fans in the heads(most are carved out of foam, and so there's space and need for it), but next time you go to Sox Flags or something, notice the suiters don't do a whole lot of really physical stuff, or if they do, they take a good break afterwards. The other issue is that the suit I'm building is a good bit less "cartoony" than most, and having something that conforms to the body better would be nice. My original idea was to get some flat birdcage fans and set them up in the armpits. There'll be a slight gap there in the suit itself, and the idea was to cool the blood flowing through there, helping coll the rest of the body. Question is, does this vest thingy work enough better to be worth the price?

Ignorance may be bliss, but it sure ain't fun!

Maybe a way to keep your head cool in the head gear?

I actually tried this in high school and it did help a little!
It's a trick the St Louis Cardinals used during the astroturf years in Busch Stadium.

Then trainers put heads of cabbage in the freezer. When the guys went into the field they would put 1 or 2 frozen caggabe leaves under their hats to keep cool!<img src=newicons/anim_shock.gif border=0 align=middle>

Helped maintain the body temp on those hot and muggy St Louis afternoons!

I've seen something kind of similar. It's a vest, and it's made of a mesh of some kind. You dip it in water, wring it out and wear it. It supposedly works pretty good, but I have no idea how long it lasts before you have to wet the vest again.

Assault is a type of behavior, not a type of rifle.

TRY A COOLING VEST. I have to wear a Cooling vest during the summer due to the Heat's effects on MS.
Their are SO MANY TYPES BRO!
I could of gotten one from the VA or MSSA but you have them on "LOAN"
Some are as bulky and uncomfortable to wear

I did alot of research and bought the "STA-COOL VEST SYSTEM" myself.
Better than anything I've found out there plus it fits like a scuba suit. Their big time used in the Film Industry.

http://www.stacoolvest.com/

I've had mine for 2 yrs and LOVE IT. It comes with 8 cooling inserts, which are Water/a special membrane that is used. Once they are Hydrated you freeze them and can put in 4 at a time or just 2.
They can also be put into HOT WATER to keep you warm.
They dont sweat thru you wear them against your body
And I'm here to tell you their COLD at first even with the vest insultated.
But will keep you cool for 8 hours before needing to change out the packs.
Now thats fishing or at Family pinics in and out of the sun.
We loose power I will wear mine until the A/C comes on and I'm fine.
You can drop the temp against your body on a 90+ day down to 75f with no problem.
They also make Head gear and oand other cooling stuff for you too.
Silver Creek makes a whole line of cooling products that all you do is Soak in water and the Evoration keeps you cool.
Their pretty inexpensive.
A STACOOL VEST like mine was $230.00,I got the Whole KIT.
iNSURANCE GAVE ME SHIT OVER IT,so I told them to "SHOVE IT"
They know MS paitents need them but would pay for the COOLING SYSTEM that is a self contain AIRCONDITIONER like NASA uses.
Their about $4000.00

So what that GI had was probably from Silver Creek their nice but the water mositer is a bummer.

But Know one knows when I'm wearing my vest unless I put the front 2 packs in.The 2 in the Back are pretty much all you need if your wearing it under layers and inside.

You have alot of opitions just look under
Cooling Vest AND YOU GET TONS OF RESULTS,or go to the NMS WEBSITE and they have a list of vest too.

I wont leave home without mine.

I'll take a look, but the big thing is that fursuits don't breathe well. Otherwise I'd grab something like that real quick. Might be useful for work though.

Then you need to go with a STACOOL VEST. They dont give off mositure that I've seen or had exprianced, they dont need the air to cool, like a "Can Holder" would be the result under your suit.
