Goose.......

I was gonna attempt to hook up with you for this deal at Chanute, tommorrow and Saturday. But the working overtime and the honey you must's have gotten the best of me! I am sure your probably going out to it?

I looked at the website. Not much of an \"air\" show, but Chanute certainly has more than their fair share of static aircraft.
In reading thru the list, I was suprised how many beautiful warbirds they have that have very few if any flying hours! Most were transported to Chanute for tech school, never to fly again.

Was it the F-104 I think, that has \"0\" flight hours on her? Man dont you know there are some folks around that would give some big money for a warbird in that condition?

They have the \"U of I's training camp going on at the same time .
I'm passing, like you said \"Not alot of Flying\" but the Camp going on its going to be a \"Mad House \" down there.

When they had the East Coast Demo a few years ago, now that was :D .

Plus its too damn HOT this year I haven't been out of the house in 9 days.

I just got out of the Hospital I don't want to go back anytime soon. :x

I missed the \"3 warbirds\" the Bombers B-25,B-24 and the B-17 at the local airport. I guess it was a good display.

Well lets hope you get straightened out and back to flying straight and level!

Yeah I saw some Confederate Air Force guys in North Mississippi a couple years back at our local airport. They were on a money making trip and giving rides in a B-25. Rides I heard were $300 a pop!

I woulda sure done it, having had an extra $300 at the time, but the wife was like.....\"For an airplane ride? No F****** Way! Do you know how much material I can buy for that for my sewing?\"

Why dont they understand? LOL

Yeah reading down that list of static birds that Chanute has in the museum, I was rather impressed. Where do they store them all at? Are some \"birds on a stick\" or are they all stored in some sort of facility?

Guess I should put a link incase anyone else is wondering huh? LOL

Here is a link to the show we are talking about taking place today & tommorrow. Link off it it to rest of Chanute.

All on the ground or in the hangar in the holding area.
If any of you went to Chanute AFB before it was closed down all those Birds on display, the B-36, B-52's,KC-135, KC-97 etc.... all those Old birds were sold as \"SCRAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!\"
They even sold some of the old fighters for scrap. Alot of BUFF drivers and Riders were all over the base getting \"Show pieces \" like the seats, consoles, etc..... of what postion they serve in on the BUFF.
A navigator and Pilot came and took out the seats, instrument panels, steering columns etc... and only had to pay the going rate for scrap from the salvage yard. They filled the one pick-up truck with a trailer totally and the paper said it cost them like $100.00
They had an A-10 down there for POL training but, it was sent to an base along with the F-15A, the F-4 and A-7 stayed and our on display .

Pretty place plus they have the Korean War Museum too
