Well I guess surge protectors don't always work for everything  ,

Last Sunday with that Freaky Weather here we went from 65F to 28 by 20:00 but when the front came thru it was a squall line and it brought some
\"T-STORMS\".
Well you ever been outside during a Storm and you feel that \" :? feeling followed by a \"WHIP CRACK\"or like a very loud \"CLICK\"? [shock] [shock] [shock]
Well now you know what happened to my computer, and my USB port on my NEW PRINTER [cuss] [mad]

Everything else was fine, including my DSL RT?????.
All plugged into the same surge protector. I had it off at the time i mean I wasn't even using the system. But after the House had a few breakers \"Trip\" but it all came back on I smelled something \"Cooking\" ,
You guessed my power supply had been Fried.

I called my insurance agent on Monday, brought it to a \"Tech\" shop he then on Tuesday gave the agent the replacement cost $951.00 minus the monitor.
The Guy at the shop had a 1 year old HP Media center 830 that had been \"Jacked Up\" for Gaming Hard Core, plus TV tuner etc... dual Docks DVD-/+R/RW and CD-/+R/RW in one combo drive and one single drive DVD . Plus Windows Office XP2 2007 new key board, speakers, and a new 19\" LCD monitor . I bought it for $650 2G' of Dual core /250 G HARD DRIVE. I thought it was a pretty good deal plus Free parts and labor for 2 years

But you know going from a 15\" LCD to a 19\" LCD with LITEBRITE is pretty [shock] [shock] :D

They even recovered all my files , so I'm just waiting on Lexmark to Replace my new printer that was 3 days old.

I almost bought a laptop ,but figured I'd keep a \"PC at home with all my stuff and get a \"Laptop\" with basics just to do what I have too like email ,surf in the hospital or any place else because I was bored in that Hospital room with nothing but \"Crappy\" cable

So just had to rattle for bit, any of you who have had experience with XP2 2007 and the P D processor I'd like your input.

Thanks Goose

My wifes old computer did the same thing, it also had a Lexmark printer and when the power went the printer blew out the system motherboard as well as the power supply. Good thing my computer was on it's way from the UK at the time.

Pentium Duo's are pretty fast, they are still pretty fresh on the market with the extreme versions being pushed out and are great for games...especially the ones that are very demanding on the system, when you say XP2 2007 are you referring to the last version of XP?

Sorry to hear for the sudden loss, but i hope that your new one works well.

I had a P4 with a Gigabyte Mother Board in my old one . It could do both, I don't have it in this one but couldn't beat the $$$$

This has XP Pro 2003 SP2 but with Office 2007, I miss spoke earlier.
They have to come to the house though, the Office Program is \"Un Stable\"
I',e have OUTLOOK messing up and when I went to Excel 2007 it just
\"Disappeared \" along with POWER POINT.
The Tech is coming out and re-loading the computer and the software so I told them to put my Office 2003 back in. I'm use to it and 2007 so far I'm not Impressed.

I briefly used Word 2007 on my dads new laptop and it's really strange, instead of the drop down menu that everyone is used to, it's all contained in the top part of the screen I had a heck of a time trying to figure out where formatting had gone. Not sure what Outlook looks like as my dad just has the student edition, I'll stick to 2003 for now as well.
