Ok , I've been out since 92 (81-92) Ok since then I've heard of all these \"Requirements\" to make rank now.
I thought it was a \"Blow to the Enlisted ranks taking away \"Buck Sgt\"
But I see in order to \"Do this and Make this, You need this Course, that Course, this Endorsement Etc.....\"

I do remember the change in the \" \"9\"APR system to the\" EPR and \"5\" was tops and then you couldn't get an endorsement on them higher then \"Maybe a Msgt\" etc..
That sucked after having \"4 ****\" endorsements as a A1C&SRA ( Ok I worked in TWA FOR A FEW YEARS CARRYING GOLF CLUBS ETC..)and then Full Birds later on at England.

But Fender said something onetime that your expected to have your \"Degree\" and Know another language by a certain time?

When do you have time to \"Work on your Jet, Go TDY, and Actually spend time with your Kids?

So is the \"Needs\" to make Rank now?

Thanks Goose

You get points based on your EPRS, time in grade, time in service, decs, and the 2 tests, PDG and SKT.

I think http://usmilitary.about.com/od/afpromotions/l/blafpromfacts.htm explains it pretty well.

Its all based on points until E-7, no real \"requirements\" so to speak, like you have to have done a short tour, or a special duty, or have your CCAF...

Past E-7 a CCAF is now required, and for E-9 and E-9 you do have certain \"blocks\" you need to fill in, like special duty and the like, because your board score will reflect it.

And if your a complete POS, your EPRs will reflect that (hopefully) and you lose points in that category, making it more difficult to have a high enough score to beat the cutoff.

Goose, the requirement for a CCAF has been \"unofficial\" for years. Basically you will not get a Wing King endorsement without it. Without a Wing level endorsement you can forget Senior. Also, fitness test info is now included and will eliminate a lot of potential wannabes. Deployments to the AOR always is big with the boards these days for Senior and Chief.

Never heard the one about learning a different language.

The PT test doesn't affect your score (at least not yet, I wish it did, I scored a 98.5 on my last one) but it is on the new EPR form, not your score, just pass/fail/exempt.

I had heard about the language requirement. Its for E-8s and -9s I think, or maybe at the SNCO academy? IDK details.

So it really hasn't changed that much except for the
\"Fitness program\" and the Endorsements. I only had to deal with the \"EPR\" System for a short time.

So its still basically the same until you goto SMsgt, I would of never made it.
Msgt would of been fine.

The fitness program I guess I would of had to push away from the table more and actually \"Workout\". I wouldn't of made it.
Probably better I did \"Pull the Cord\" and took the SSB

Hats off to you guys that make it today, its really got to be \"Hard\"! [salute]

Goose

JackB, have they implimented mandatory PT yet? I know while I was at the Koon in 05, we had to log into fit-linx a min. of 3 times a week for 30 min's of Cardio and also had mandatory PT 3 times a week.

Not really, not for flightline personnel anyway. We don't do it together, and we don't have to log in, but the AFI says it is required 3x a week.

Nonners do it as a group, I see them running around the base every morning on my way home from work. For us, it's only people on the fat-boy program who are babysat and watched to do PT.

When I was at Osan (and Eielson also) we were also "required" to log into fitlinx 3x a week, but no one ever did and no one ever cared.

Your lucky, Wolf 1 made it his number one priority to ensure everyone was logging in and doing PT

Jack, it may not affect "YOUR" score. It will effect those testing for Senior and Chief. Board score I am talking here.
