Well today is my \"Sand in the Ass Crack\" arrive date.18 years ago 124F on the Ramp when they opened the KC-10's door. It was a Clear day though, light winds, the \"South Ramp\" wasn't even a \"Twinkle\" at the time, we were suppose to move up to KKMC until the last minute change.


And I know What every Book out their says, But the 76th Was the 1st 23rd TFW Unit on the ground.
The 74th didn't come till later after our jets arrived, we ended-up catching both units Jets us in the \"ESTA Team\"

We were ready to head to \"Red Flag\" when the word came to Deploy so our RISK Kits and equipment was already \"Strapped and Wrapped\" and lined-up . So we went first.
Took an extra 12 hours to get there since we had to stop at \"Seymour Johnson AFB \" for a crew switch out\" and we actually ended-up with an \"Ex- 75th AMU DCC\" as the KC-10 DCC and he said when we landed
\"Man you Red Section Guys are Fucked\",

You know its hot when they open the Cargo side door and a \"Burst of Fog\" forms in a Split second\" and you go from a comfortable 65F to \"HELL\" in a Blink of an eye.

Like Mack said before, \"You never forget that \"Heat and Fuel smell on asphalt \" during the summer when its a \"Dry Heat\" at an Airport\".

Travis was like that during the summer on the \"South West\" loading area where we moved the \"Trash Haulers\" to do Air Drops with the Army.

Talk about \"No Mans Land\" miles from the ramp out there in the lower
Hills and loaded with \"Sand, snakes, Spiders (The \"T\" types) everywhere\"

Just like George AFB air warrior ramp. LOL.

You would climb in the wheel wells to do tire Checks and go \"F- It\" after the 3rd spider or the first Rattler between the wheels after sitting there over night.. even had a Coyote sitting under one wheel well scared old \"Tuffy\" (Tina) ass-off all you heard was the \"SCREAM\"

So Yes you don't forget when certain \"Smells trigger memories\" just like
96F and 70% Humidity a few weeks ago and rain before they asphalted the \"Road\" and it smelled just like \"Mike Row\" at England AFB.
