Dice, I ended up with a new laptop with Vista on it 'cuz I couldn't find one with XP and couldn't wait for a MacBook. Within a week I ended up doing a low level format (you have to do a low level because of all the crap Vista writes on the boot sector) reloaded XP Pro and now, with 4 Gig of memory, have a screaming fast road 'puter.

If you haven't popped the $300 plus for a new version of Office (your old one, of course, isn't compatible with Vista) go here and try Open Office.org before you do. It works well, does everything office does and it's free. The only downside is you have to have Java (also free) on your machine.

I have had no experience with VISTA, i bought a new computer last year when they were just making the change and opted to stick with XP. Good luck with it and i hope you learn quickly.

OC, thanks for the “Openoffice” tip I have it installed and working now and it seems to be just what I needed without shelling-out $300 bucks. I would like to go back to XP but I guess, like it or not, VISTA is the future so I'm going to learn to use it. I'll look at the low level format after I finish cleaning out the crap and see how it works after that.

Racegal, I'm going to learn to use the system but it will take time....

Dice, if you want a quick tutorial, I can give you some pointers when we meet up (I'm back in Detroit for 2 weeks then I fly back out there).

Thanks for the offer Weasel, I've cleaned more of the crap out and it's working better now. PM me when you will be down so I can make work plans (if I need to take off a few hours or something).

Goose I got a mid-range Toshiba A-200 Satellite. The satellite was what I had before and I like their computers. It's no were near top of the line but, it works for what I want it for, storing my A-10 files and working on my door art book. :)

I like the Look of the Toshiba Satellite Laptops, I played around with one a few times in Best Buy I love the screen on the 15.4.

Mine will either be a Toshiba or a Hp the way it looks right now.
It depends on the deal, but I do like the Toshiba's as my first choice.
