Dice, I haven't heard of anything being done yet. During our C2 it is said that the primary focus is on getting all those needing to be trained for the conversion and getting all the A/C to Ft Smith (and getting those Hogs in the airspace around here.)
I look to see something before long though.

Lets not be so jumpy. Maybe there are a few doors that you would like to keep. I know this cool one with a dog on a red dog house. I threw you a bone (no pun intended); I put an FS166 on his scarf.

As you can see they are pretty plain.

There's some shots from a few weeks ago over here : http://www.fencecheck.com/forums/index.php/topic,344.1020.html

Billy,

You really want to see the Old Girl with that \"Ugly Ass Hog Face\" painted on it????
I'm sorry it looks like a Dog more, I'm sorry FT SMITH, Borrow
Barksdales Hogs Face.

But Please if 0166 is there send her to Moody AFB, She needs her \"Smile back\" or atleast to one of the Indy Bases where Billy can Transfer too.

Hey and why does the WC/C bird have his name on it but \"No Crew Chief\"??? Some jets do his doesn't I'd be one \"PO'ed\" Crewdawg.

I like the \"Clean versions \" just keep the Face off,

Goose

I agree for the most part with you Coach but, that 3/4 nose on view looks pretty good.

Because it looks like something from the Dutch demo team. It's a warplane, not a hot rod.

Hogwild,

Why didn't they put the Razor Back Hog on the Tail???

Like when you see the \"Red Bull\" on the Old F-106's at the ADS in the UP in the 80's.

That would of been \"Cool\"

But the \"Cartoon \" Face\" looks like a \"Bull Dog\" getting it in the \"A--\"
I'm sorry but I showed it to people not even in the USAF or around anything USAF or A-10's and ask them what it was and they said a \" Dog with upside down teeth or Bull Dog came up\"

The A-10 is a WARTHOG not a Razorback Hog.

2 completely differant Types of Hogs, so if your going to \"Go with the Hog theme\" You folks should put the Warthog Face on it or remove it. Maybe a Half View would work better?

Thats Just My Thoughts, Did you guys have that on your F-16's ? Put the Razorback Mascot on the Tail or on the Engine Cowl

Personal opinion is Fort Smith will not get the respect it wants from the Hog community until they start acting like a Hog unit, first step would be to get the units home page updated.

Yea I know it's not about websites but, it is about pride in the aircraft you fly and maintain and I see none when I visit the units \"face to the public\".

Well we a few critics that is obvious. So what.

We also have some jets on our ramp with Razorback faces and ALL have ARKANSAS and FS on their tails, are flying missions day in day out (even at night), a installation thats growing with new facilities and capabilites, competed in 08 Hog Smoke (did very well) even against units that have had this mission for like ever.

I know of 1000+ members that actually love the Razorback face and a city and state that supports us 100%. I'll take that any day.

How many Hog hours or combat deployments do those 1000+ people in Ft Smith have?

Cheesy, tacky, and bush league. Earn your spurs before you start rearranging the furniture.

Hog Hours = 0 (I'm assuming in combat)

Combat Deployments = 1,000 personnel
(I would guess a lot)

Bush League, cheesy and tacky = [lol]

On a side note, I'm curious why folks here for the most part have such a bias against FS? I know that the CT folks lost their hogs and they went to FS and understandibly some are a bit chuffed about that. Also keep in mind that the 188's website has not been updated (in large part) since well before the hogs showed up. I credit that to poor PR from the PAO office (or lack of resources being a NG unit) rather than some underlying percieved embarassment from trading in their Vipers for Hogs.

I also find it interesting the comments about adding art to the jet once a unit has \"earned it's spurs\".........so are units with new missions and jets suppose to fly \"naked\" jets until they get a combat deployment under their belts?

I was surprised to see the Hawg on the nose, but understanding that the vertical stab has less real estate than a Viper (for a given viewable side), and the sensitivity of the rudder to balance issues I think the nose was a good choice. As an Arkansan and a fan of the Hog and Hawg's I can't think of a better jet to bear the Hawg image than a Hog.

I know alot of folks in and around the 188th community and the AR National Guard, and without hesitation they are all excited about their new mission and the new jet. Maybe instead of bashing them and dwelling on the past, why not welcome them to the Hog community and wish them sucess with their new mission...........last time I checked we're all on the same team.

I'm by no means wanting to ignite a flame war and most (if not all of my comments are rhetorical), just something to consider.

I love the Razor Back on the Tail, thats the 188's FS trademark.
I think You guys are missing a point that was brought up awhile back.
Every A-10 unit had a Units History and Markings that always stayed with their unit, no matter what the aircraft.

The Aircraft shouldn't be the factor in \"Hey lets put this here\" .
The Razorback Tail markings looked Great and should of been kept with the A-10's you guys picked-up.

It is the 188th's Units Markings. Now if you get F-22's you going to put that \"Hog face on it's nose\"?

Then their were those first FT Smith T-Shirts that were printed a while back with the GULF WAR Score Board on the back,
Sorry but putting a Units Jet on that shirt was a real [mad]
sore spot since your jets weren't there, Too many of the units that set that record are no longer around .
It's bad enough they put the \"Peanut\" A-10 on it.

Earning Spurs, use to be what you had to do in some of the Units in order to get your \"Nose art\" on.
The 23rd TFW (The 23rd AVG) as tradition was you had to \"Prove yourself worthy of the \"Teeth\" to be painted on your Jet by accomplishing either in combat in the early years or as in the days in the early 80's when the 3 TFS (74th,75th,and 76th) a few A-10's from the 76th went to Grenada and dropped the first bombs in combat from an A-10.
Those Jets got there teeth painted before others, then you had to the most CODE 1's based on hours flown if you did you were next , so on. 75 jets to get Teeth it took awhile .

Now here is another point. Which 188 hog is that ? 9188 or 0188? Both those Jets were First sent to the 23rd TFW/ 76TH TFS England AFB Alexandria LA.in the early 80's Both Jets were Tank Killers in the Gulf War, so was 0166.

You can then go down the list to each one of those \"Hogs\" (Warthog is better) and everyone of them came from a Unit Rich in History and Combat tours in the A-10's . That earned their Spurs . Its a \"Old Timmers Term\".

So yes were all on the Same team, but you have to look at it from some of these folks points of views, They had up to 3 tours they deployed in working and flying with the same jets,
Alot of these Units were awarded OUA w Valor awards with probably their 2 or 3 cluster.

Wait until you guys start really doing heavy work on those jets and start seeing \" Scab patches\" or \" strange fixes\" in areas.
Thats more than likely ABDR patches from AAA or SA-2 and SA-4's damage from Desert Storm /Balkins/OIF.

So hopefully soon you folks can deploy to Afgannyland and give those Guys on their 2nd and 3rd tours already a break and \"Cut Your Spurs\" because we need every A-10 unit able to rotate.

Goose

Goose, those t-shirts you mentioned wasn't designed by anyone in the 188th I think it was FritzFox or something like that.

As for placing of the Razorback face well thats the commanders call, not anyone elses.

So HawgWild,

I hope you can see where the \"Bristling of Hair\" on the back of the \"Old Combat Hog Drivers & Combat Hog Keepers and Hog Keepers in General' that lost their Jobs they loved and now don't have a job or a mission that is \"short time\" .

How would you like it if you went from a 'Highly wanted Combat Unit\" several tours in both Wars and then turned into a \"Air Taxi service\" and most of your people loose their jobs do to political whims?

So thats the issue plus I think your Commander, no disrespect to him, but made a mistake putting the hog face on the nose.

But their your A-10's and like Dice said \" The Unit's PR needs to get on the ball and change the website ASAP if it isn't yet and get the Lawndarts Off it.
A-10's and Lawndarts don't mix. I'm glad you folks are doing good in Bombing meets.

How did you do on your ORI? Or have you had one yet?

But if your Crew Chiefs want the back ground on their Jets we can probably give it to them.
I know I can 80-0166 , I had her, then Billy, The Old Girl is a 6 time Tank Ace, 3 Different wars and 2 V's for Valor on her patch and clusters.
Battle Damage to Her Engine from a AAA battery attacking while High rises in Baghdad because they were on top of Civilain Housing. The first Time A-10's Attacked that far into Iraq in 91.
She also Bagged a Mig 25 hidden in a Garage out in Western Iraq along a Highway , The Pilot said \"Goose you should of seen it!!\" got it with a cluster bomb and all the secondary Explosions but put some \"Dings in her belly.\"

Then When Billy had her she was on some \"Hellish Missions\"

Now do you ever remember Crew Chiefs keeping a history of a jet???
Almost Every A-10 has that.

Just Keep of that Tradition

Goose

129 is a bag of shit. It was a bag of shit when we got it from Moody and the fuel cell fell through the floor. It was a bag of shit when we got rid of it. Guys, guys, guys, take it easy on the man. I remember when I joined the page back in '03 and landed with a splash. Someone throw the man a first aid kit to help stem the bleeding. Hawgwild, we mean only this, and they are facts not our opinions. There are more than a few personel from old school Hawg units that wanted to come to Ft Smith, I was one of them. There are more than a few that did go. We are as we have alwas been a small tight pathologically loyal community. The words we get from many of the maintaners, good maintaners, and pilots, good pilots, ( a few that I know very well) is that all outsiders have been treated like shit................period, and that the unit refuses to change its attitude. The truth is, is that I lost my jet of 16 years to someone that failed their inspections because they sucked and were going to get CLOSED ! M$%#@R F@#$%^G CLOSED, and then got the the best maintaned and operating Hogs in the world, by more than one persons testimony. But Arkansas aint happy, shit they cant even find time to update their website. What gives ?
