"I predict that all these threads will soon be locked and maybe that's a good thing."

I predict you are wrong, however i predict that if you go on insulting honored members of WT like you just did Tomcat you will be history pretty soon here.

Some advice.... don't let it get personal , and stick to the arguments. Until your last post, you had done just that.

And BTW, you have only offered one F-14 pilot as evidence, the other's you just said 'test pilots i know'. I saw no names, ranks or units for these fellows in question posted here. No quotes or articles they have written.

And i find it BEYOND incredible that you find it hard to believe a current offficer in the USNR(and one in intel at that) wouldn't have FAR more access to what the Naval Aviation community really thinks.
I also find it incredible that you expect him to post links to inside information.

I UNDERSTAND he can offer no such links. What he was told is no doubt off the record type stuff.
You wouldn't BELIEVE what vets/active duty MILPERS tell each other with a wink and a nod.

Because you are/were not military there are a lot of things that people in the know just aren't going to tell you- and that is how it should be.

We have our own little information network, and the price of admission is an active/reserve status or a DD-214.

When you join eventually you will see that this is true.

TT they were reported as MiG-29s at the time, if they changed that to MiG-21s later(and there were MANY changes like that) then OK by me. And almost all of my posts in these NUMEROUSE threads, have NOT been that F-14 was a bad plane, I have said several times that it has been the best interceptor ever produced by anyone anywhere! My posts have been centered on the point that F-14 is doomed to continue and that the Hornets will fill the gap till F-35 comes on board,no matter who likes it or not. If you dont want me to post in here anymore and you want to preach to the choir then fine.

PS I for 1 vote that this thread NOT be locked because it WILL continue elsewhere anyway, since it has been running for the full year that I have been here.

Boomer, I should really get some of your midwestern easy going-ness

Sniper, your a good man and I have no beef with you. You guys are friends and I respecct that.
However PLEASE, reread, the past threads you'll see that Tomact is guilty of the same thing.(He was the one to bring up that lack of commen sense insult which fanned the flames) He also starts the flames as well. I withheld calling names or anything of that nature.

I'm through with this argument for a long time. He can claim a victory if he wants; though will mean little. This has happened too many times already. I'm sick and tired of running around in circles, its getting pretty predictable.

Awe Tritonal lad, you say such ugly things..........Does this mean that we are not friends anymore?

I don't put names on discussion forums unless the people are aware of it. I have been in the US. Navy for 10 plus years, I have a pretty good idea of what the attitude there is. You say the 200 names I posted are a bit archaic? Well I need to remind you that those "senior" citizens happen to be senior officers in the US Navy, two of them........Captain Larry (Lips) Lawrence is the XO of the U.S.S Enterprise, and Captain Lindel (Yank) Rutherford is the CO of the U.S.S Georege Washington.........I would not discount their opinions.

As far as facts...........I have stated them numerous times, the F-14 is superior in every tactical caterogry pertient, the two advantages the Super Hornet has, I have conceded..........I am not anti-Hornet, not even anti-Super Hornet..........If the F-18E/F was replacing the F-18C I would be very thrilled about it, but it is also replacing the F-14D and I am not happy about that at all. If you can post solid data about your arguments you would have somthing, but what you have posted is very argumenative at best.

If you are not having fun, you are not doing it right!

I just tolerated you

Tomcat, chill bro, they're civvies- you'll break them man. ;)

F-18E/F advantadges- maintanence, commonality and WVR(though this would disappear against an AIM-9X armed Tom).

F-14D advantadges- Everything else.

And YES, the die IS cast, HOWEVER, we cannot forget the chain of stupidity that led us to this place, so i feel it is all still a very relevant discussion/debate. Lest we do this to ourselves again...

They were J-7B fighters (MiG-21F from China).

I can think of a plane more agile and possibly easier to keep flying and the navy has much knowledge of it......... the A-4 skyhawk. (JK)

To bad the navy will not buy the Rafale.....

Lets just say there are reason why the French Aero Navale operated the F-8 Crusader for so long.

The Charles Degualle.........LOL, doesn't exactly impose the presence that the U.S.S Theodore Roosevelt does.........I wonder why.

Well I suppose that when your only aircraft carrier is always moored at its homeport in Strausburg, it is hard to make a presence known.
