Some times you have to fight for freedom and justice. I would love it if
you we just go to Iraq and carry out your views.
I have no animosity against you or your views. Personally I just think your
lucky that there are people willing you die to keep you free to speak your
minds. Otherwise you would have been naturally selected out of the gene
pool a long time ago.
I support our troops. What is your view on the American men and women
prepared to die to liberate the oppressed in Iraq.

I think you should read this article by a Navy veteran on our Web site to understand our view.

Also, FYI, many of our members are veterans, including the 82nd Airborne combat vet who maintains our Web site. No offense intended, but I would say those who think the military guarantees us freedom are taking an extremely simplistic view. (The Pentagon actually tried to actively deny us our right to free speech when we were going to court over equal access to schools in the mid-1980s.)
I would suggest that you dig a bit deeper and read some accurate history--not the political propaganda that passes as "history" in our grade schools--especially with regard to the Middle East and the role the U.S. has played in propping up those who are the oppressors (including the current government of Iraq). Also, investigate the many times that our political and military leaders have lied to the public and rank and file military members.
People in the U.S. military join for a variety of reasons, but I would guess that very few of them expect, when they enlist, that they will be required to cover up and/or pay for political mistakes the way they almost always eventually are. But enlisting also means you have to accept this, or risk going to prison. That doesn't sound very free or just, does it?
