After zooming in on it I think it's 81-987? I was there when it happened and watched her land and I was standing nearby while those pics were taken but I don't remember for sure what the tail number was? It was a Pope bird though!

It is sitting out here in the yard as I have been told it is going back to Depot to be fixed. I still think that it should have been fixed in the feild it looks worse than it realy is. I HOPE THAT I HAVENT OFENDED ANYONE WITH MY THOUGHTS but that is how I see it. But I guess that is what happens when the big wigs start to fix aircraft.

live to wrench, wrench to live and 727's do truly suck

We wanted to fix it there. The Damage was to extensive to fix at bare base with no back shops. SM, hydr and machine shop had all went up north. All the shops closed up when the a-10s moved up north. We where the last aircraft mechanics on Al Jabor.

I thought that was a Maryland bird ? See thats what happens when you get info from a guy selling cast iron frying pans from a wagon train made of camels.

By this time tomorrow I shall have gained either a pearage or Westminster Abbey........Nelson

I wonder whats going on at jaber these days..a ghost town? Amazing to think that about 8/9 thousand people were there (if I remember right) during the height of the war. It seems like so long ago now. I left in May. Are the depot guys still on the road koobster? I ran into you guys when we moved from the tents to the dorms.

Tossing Suds over Dice's house a couple weeks ago. he said they are still debating for it to be a gate gaurd or to get it flying again.

Dice did comment that he went out and pulled the flight stick off the jet. This will be presented to her as an award. If it hasnt allready. Quite an honor all upon itself what she pulled off.

She proved her ability as a Good "Stick" and hopefully amongst the squadron she flew as a good fighter pilot. I just hope some sexist liberals dont use this for an agenda.

Only the best canidates earn the right to fly regardless of sex, race, creed, or religion

We (abdr team) also cut out the tail flash (FT) off the stab that had been all shot up for her.

Here are most of the other pictures that were circulated through e-mail and the web after the A-10 from Pope was shot up. They have been on the internet for some time. The A-10 is one hell of a beast.
