Once again, you are the man....errr...Hog! I really enjoyed reading Mr Caruso's story, thanks for sharing it with us. When he said, "Many of these images found their way onto squadron training manuals, standardization documents, and letterhead," I can relate, as back when I was a A1C and worked for the DCM at the 81 TFW in the early 80s, the Fairchild reps had some of these illustrations they gave to us, which we incorporated into the monthly maintenance reports where we had previously had blank pages with "This page intentionally left blank" on them. We just thought the caricatures were cool, but we didn't realize how much everyone would take to them as shortly after putting them in our reports they started to show up all over base! Folks would color them in, or have their kids color them, and post them all over the place. It really warmed our hearts…

Personally, I don’t think Horatio needs an update, he looks as tough and assuming as ever. Let’s keep him as he is, as I think he is good for another 20 years at least, much like the airplane he represents!

You could be right M2, maybe all he needs is a little exsposure to the younger genaration. I will see what MR. Caruso comes up with and the 30th annniversary coin will help put him back into the eye of the community.

The history may help a little because I didn't know where he came from of how he got his name and knowing this makes him a little more personel... to me anyway.

BTW, I liked your story also!

prkiii, I don't know what the Col (SPD) has in mind for these coins except I know everyone at the PMR in Jan will get one. Sorry to say I have no control over these and they may be in very limited supply! <img src=icon_smile_dissapprove.gif border=0 align=middle>

You may not want to see this but here's the design for the coin, I need to publicly thank Yojimbo for doing the design, I told him what I wanted and he did and outstanding job on giving me a nice coin!! <img src=newicons/bounce.gif border=0 align=middle>

This is an early drawing and a few changes have been made but you can get an idea of just how special this coin will be!

This side will have the GAU-8A barrels raised and should look like you are looking down the barrel of the Avenger..

Dice...just keep me posted...they did a 30th anniversary coin for the F-15 here at the SPO a year ago...we had to pay, but you had the option to order them...if the option is there...let me know...I'll gladly ante up some cash for a couple...

Well, I can't "tag" an order on the the SPO because they have already placed thier order..at least their first one anyway. <img src=icon_smile_dissapprove.gif border=0 align=middle>

The SPD is not sure how he's going to handle these coins right now, he want's to keep them "special" by limiting the total number and who gets them but, he's a little unsure of the max number and just WHO will get them. <img src=newicons/pain10.gif border=0 align=middle>

If we kidnap his firstborn and threaten to send him to the Neverland Ranch for exciting, fun filled, two day, three night stay with Jacko by golly he'll order us some coins. <img src=newicons/saevil.gif border=0 align=middle>
