This is an IMAX film of a Red Flag exresize at Nellis. Lockheed Martin's PR rep come to me about 6-8 months ago concering the fliming of this documentry with questions on hanging a IMAX camara on an A-10. Well, what happen is they came to LM asking, for maximum effect which aircraft should they hang an IMAX camara on, of course LM told them the A-10. LM then came to me with questions on which station to hang the pod on, vib and gun gas issues.

We talked about it and if I remember correctly they were going to hang a pod on station 6 while firing the gun, mavs, and rocket runs for maximum effect. I will have to get with LC next week an see if I can get some inside info but, I am sure the Hawg will be a big part of this film and I can't wait to see it!!

Looks cool, but some of those "production stills" are canned pics, most particularly the A-10. However, the female IAF Viper pilot would be an interesting story in and of herself. I know the IAF has a pretty high standard, I wonder how she did up against our pointy-nosed guys?!?

Those pics of the HH-60 and MH-53 don't look like the range at Nellis either, the first could be but last I knew there were no beaches there. And WTF is FRED doing AR'ing at RF?

Still, would love to see this at an IMAX...maybe up in Brussels.

Cheers! M2

I was impressed enough with the footage I saw filmed during the A-10 demo at RAF Fairford last July, a mini-cam was mounted on top of the instrument panel facing the pilot.
The view from inside the jet of the display was awesome and left me still in awe of the Hogs maneuverability after all this time.
If anyone is interested the footage can be found on the DVD of the RIAT 2003 airshow and also Best of British Airshows 2003 DVD.
