I recently heard that there is a new Travel pod designed for the A-10 that opens on both sides and can carry larger items etc. Supposed to be the "Latest and Greatest". Has anyone heard of such a thing? If there is a new Pod I need the NSN # so we can order some!!
Thanks!!

I really dont see no reason that your SM shop couldnt put another door on for ya, it seems like a simple task. Also you could always make the nose cone removable as well.

P.S. if you can stuff a pointy head in a travel pod (we did this)... other than convers the doors really arent that bad. It just takes some practicing to get the "packing" of the pods right. I was on a Demo team for a year and got real used to packing thoes things.

I see it's made by SF like the old fuel tanks. It look larger tan the old napalm mxu pods. I would immagine that it is about the size of a 300g fuel tank.

I've seen this pic (first page of .pdf file) hanging up in our maintenance debrief area. I was wondering what it was. And we could fit 3-4 sets of clubs in the old ones, depeding on how you packed 'em.

Give me a little bit bigger door and I am happy. Packing our toolboxes in the pods from Spang was the real pain. Some of the pods had wider mouths, but it still wasn't an easy task to get the boxes in there. They need to teach some people to pack travel pods better, too. Oil and JOAP kits are great, but not when you have to dig through everything else to get them out of the nose cone <img src=newicons/anim_cussing.gif border=0 align=middle>.

Not quite as big as a 300 gallon tank but its not far from it. Its made almost like the centerline tank for a lawndart. Looks like a serious haulin pod.

Ok... I had the our chief call the company and he found out that they are not yet approved for the A-10 but now that we got the ball rolling it shouldn't take long to get it done! We also asked them if they could shorten the lug spacing down from the 30 inches because that prevents us from being able to hang them from a TER. They are getting back to us but didn't feel that it posed a problem.
We don't hang them from TERS very often but when we're ferrying all the extra rails, tanks, etc. overseas it really helps.

I wonder how much beer would fit in that new pod? I think we got 6 in the old one and it was quite nicelly chilled during the ride from Norvenich back to BW.

OH THAT TOO,YOU HAD TO DO A PROPER JACK WITH A CHOCK.
ALSO GREAT FOR KILLING PIT VIPERS WHILE DROPPING THEM OUT THE BACK OF THE EXPIDITER TRUCK!
OLD "GUS" AND "T-MAN" HAD A CONFIRMED KILL AT KFIA DURING THE FALL OF 90.

USING THEM TO PROP UP YOUR BOAT TRAILER ETC......

BUT USING THEM TO PACK PODS WAS FUN!
