Dear Hog Lovers:

It won't be long until the holiday season is here. All our service people need an extra boost to know how much they are appreciated.

Since we are on this site, all of us have a special place for the A-10 personnel.

The military is understandably not delivering mail as "any service member". So how can we get holiday gifts to our A-10 brothers and sisters?

Any help would be appreciated.

Most Hog Drivers know others that are currently deployed. You can always send them stuff to send out. Course, you have to know them first and I'm probably not going to hand out my address just yet. Dice may also have an in for you as he knows many a maintainer around the world.

I have a coiple of contacts who just deployed and they are going to send me addy(s) to mail stuff to. The thing is I only want to send packages from myself but, I will be taking cash donations to buy things and for shipping. I will build a list of people who donate and include it with the package so everyone gets credit for there donations.

Also for my own safty I'm not quite sure how, or if, I will give out my addy to people I don't know...maybe a PO box...I'll post more info when I deside.

I also want to send packages out early this year because last year one package didn't reach the deployed troops until the day they were leaving....more to come...

Do keep us in the loop, Dice. Anyone who has deployed "over there" somewhere especially understaqnds the importance of the home connection.<img src=icon_smile_approve.gif border=0 align=middle>

Dice....maybe paypal would be something you could try. You could set up a paypal account and have people send in donations to you through it.

Dice I use a PO BOX for the very same reasons you had stated.

FYI Postal Boxes recieve a higher ammount of attention. The postal inspector informed me that becasue it is a storage location on federal property it requires more safety and security measures.

Allways a good idea to have a P.O. Box

Post office cannot give out ownership to general public eaither.

there for and they do actually allow you to use anonymous names for the Box.

For example "Dice" is the owner, but you could advertise it as:

Hoglet Relief Xmas 2004
P.O. Box #####
City, State.

Got an addy (and picture) today from our friend Coach and I will set-up a PO box with-in the next week or so to start this ball rolling.

I would like to get a couple of packages together for Thanksgiving and a couple for Christmas..more details to come. Here's a pic of the guys/gals we will be supporting....
