My old Hawg dropped in to see me during the Wings over the Wolfpack airshow and I had to get some pictures of her. It's been a while since we've seen each other and the last time I did see her she had a MY on the tail and was marked as a 79 model. Now I understand changing the tail ID but to change the year of the aircraft has really left me puzzled. Just to verifiy that it was the same aircraft I checked the ID in the cockpit and yeap it's my ol piggy 79-0211.... guess it's just a Osan SNAFU

Great pics...Osan is good at that...my jet when I was overthere, they did the same thing...had the wrong year painted on the tail...looks like the paint scheme changed a bit too...the Mustang use to be on the fuselage, not the tail.....looks good though....

Very nice pics, but it makes me that USAFE made the 81st at Spang take the Panther head off the engines when Osan allows the 25th to put the Mustang on tail. Don't get me wrong, I think it is cool, but after seeing the tankers at Mildenhall with their RAF crowns on their tails and the WWII bomber logos (a capital 'C') it makes me even that you-know-who (one of the seven Dwarfs) forced it. Just shows you how predjudiced he is against real jets...frigging Wiper driver! I hope he during his next ride in Mingo (a.k.a. "ol' Triple 6").

Cheers! M2

Max,

If that's how you feel then you'll really love this pic. I wasn't going to post it here because it's a viper and I know how much you guys love those vipers. It's of the wing king's jet but more specificly is the tail markings..

Very nice pics Hitler keep them coming! M2, what about DM they are the only A-10 unit that has nothing....not even door art...it's just not fair to any when the rules are different for each.

The markings at Osan vary from jet to jet. Some of them have the Mustang on the vertical stab, and others on the fuselage. I think it was sorted by if it was a commanders jet or not. If it is, then the Mustang is on the stab. if its an "ordinary" jet, then its on the fuselage. If I remember correctly 211 was a commanders jet. I'm not sure anymore. We had several. 1 for the 25th, one for the 51FW, and one for the 7th AF.

Roger that, was stationed at Shaw from 1990 - 1994, crewed two jets while I was there 79-0170 and 81-0990. Many on this board know of 170's demise and I'm proud to say 1990 is still flying up at Pope.
