Gamekeepers 'shot cars to break up illegal rave'
By Stewart Payne
(Filed: 15/12/2004)

A woman gamekeeper and her assistant opened fire when they came across an illegal rave, shooting the tyres of party-goers' cars and blasting speakers pumping out music that could be heard for miles around, a court was told yesterday.

The actions of Jessica Allinson, 46, and Alexander Szyndel, her 28-year-old under-keeper, were said to have terrorised the 600 revellers. Allinson grabbed an organiser by the throat during a fierce argument and Szyndel fired in the direction of a car that was being driven around woods.

The pair had arrived at the scene of the rave at Netley Heath, near West Horsley, Surrey, each carrying shotguns while hunting rabbits. They found a lock on a gate had been cut with bolt croppers.

The rave had been under way since midnight and police received scores of complaints throughout the night from residents, some living as far as seven miles away.

With the party still in full swing at daybreak, Allinson and Szyndel took the law into their own hands, a judge at Guildford Crown Court was told.

Both pleaded guilty to four counts of possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence and one count each of possessing a firearm at the time of committing an offence. Szyndel pleaded guilty to two counts of causing criminal damage and Allinson one count of criminal damage.

Iain Wicks, prosecuting, said the rave was held on land where Allinson was responsible for running a shoot. She and Szyndel had set out to go rabbiting at dawn. The first person they came across was Nicholas Westwood and Allinson pointed her gun in his direction, putting him in fear of violence. She was seen to fire towards his car while Szyndel shot in the direction of a Ford Fiesta that was being driven through the woods.

The pair also approached another man, who was driving around with friends in a Ford Escort trying to find the rave, and were abusive and threatening towards him.

Allinson was said to have opened her gun so the cartridge could be seen before the occupants were manhandled and let go. As they drove off, the defendants' Land Rover followed and rammed the vehicle from behind, the court was told.

The keepers approached other party-goers and Allinson reloaded her gun and pointed it at one of the men.

Mr Wicks said that by 6am the defendants reached the heart of the rave. They approached the speakers and four cartridges were discharged into them causing damage of £1,700, although the music continued.

Allinson then confronted Simon Scott, one of the organisers, grabbing him by the throat and pointing her gun at him.

Mr Wicks said: "There was a struggle that involved a number of people and it is not clear as to who hit who. One party-goer was injured."

As the gamekeepers finally drove away Szyndel fired at another car that was being driven around the woods.

The court was told that a woman who had turned up to collect her daughter was walking through the woods to try to find the site. Coming across Allinson's vehicle she was met with abuse. Later, when the woman returned to her car, she found two of its tyres had been shot.

Mr Wicks said Allinson finally called the police and they arrived to find her weeping and in a distraught state. She and Szyndel were arrested.

Allinson, from Peaslake, Surrey, claimed that she fired only three shots in total and was attacked herself after she stumbled across the party.

Szyndel, from Haslemere, Surrey, told police in interview that they had approached the rave and asked people to leave but were told to "**** off".

The trial continues.

I really do not see what the game keeper did was so wrong, the ravers were trespassing, the rave was illegal, the police did smeg all to stop it and yet the game keep and her assistant are the ones arrested and taken to court the mind boggles.

We must reject the idea that every time a law's broken, society is guilty rather than
the lawbreaker. It is time to restore the American precept that each individual is accountable
for his actions. (Ronald W. Reagan)

Well obviously the police weren't going to do anything.

The UK, what a criminals paradise.

What do you expect from a country who is policed by mall security guards.

That last remark is a little bit below the belt.

The problem with the UK is not the police, but the way they are forced to stick to what a bunch of LWFW's think is the law.

It doesn't matter if you think it's bravery or stupidity, but the regular British copper is now used to finding himself facing a tooled up perp (and before you say anything, there are pleanty of fully auto MP's on the UK's streets) when he has nothing more than a lump of wood to perform a takedown with.

How many of your doughnut scoffing, Cola swilling lardballs would be happy to patrol without their side arms and shotguns?

Not many, I'd bet...

yes but our guys would never charge some one with "Both pleaded guilty to four counts of possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence and one count each of possessing a firearm at the time of committing an offence. Szyndel pleaded guilty to two counts of causing criminal damage and Allinson one count of criminal damage."

First off it is obvious a gun is used for violence and with those odds 600 to 2 is was a great equalizer.

secondly our cops would have arrested the ravers, and patted the game keepers on the back.

Third our cops would happy violated these assholes alway back to the jail so they could get to the donut shop before noon.

Exactly,

Trust me, the UK coppers are just a likely to offer up a bit of rough justice to any assholes they come across if they think they can do it without being caught.

BUT...

Everytime a UK copper has been caught dispensing some instant justice their career is over, no if's and no but's.

My reply was to BenRoethigs post implying that our policemen are some kind of joke.

In actual fact the law is a joke <img src=icon_smile_dissapprove.gif border=0 align=middle>...

That's why you guys have got to fight to keep the system in the States balanced towards the individuals right to protect themselves and their loved ones and not allow the Civil Rights Assholes to turn your country into the 'United States of Rolling Over and Letting the Lefties Ram It Up Your Ass' like what's happened here.

Agreed .44

Of course if they try to ban guns here as they did in the UK we won't sit back and take it like a bunch of good chaps either.

Though this hasn't stopped the uber leftists in San Francisco from proposing a total firearms ban despite it being a direct usurpation of the California constitution.

that is stupid, whenever people have properties or families there is a need to protect them....what better way to do that then firearms! At least if someone knows that you are armed.....they might think twice.

How does this city specific ban bull shit work?

In the guns forum, it mentions that Washington has already got a ban.

So if you're like driving from a city on one side of SanFran to the other and you've got a CCW, what do you do?

Fed-Ex it across the city and collect it at the other side?

You gotta drive around it, assuming this measure passes and somehow passes Ca Constitutional muster.

I was refering to their lack of firearms, not their competency.
