Well,

I finished up my vacation to AZ on the 2nd. Made it up to Dice's neck of the woods but unfotunately didn't get in touch with him. Left the SLC area on the afternoon of 3 Nov. About 70 miles East of Missoula, MT things got intersting.

I got into a fight with what I think was at least an 8 point White-tail deer. 75 mph on I-90 I caught him out of the corner of my eye, slammed the brakes, but to no avail. I caught him on the passenger side just above the bumper. I have pics but I'm not sure how to post them. Called Allstate for some assistance (Tow truck, etc.) and was told, "I can't do that for you sir." Got the Montana Highway Patrol out for an accident report, no ticket (like it was my fault!). So the Officer and I looked for the deer. No sign of the damn thing! I guess I clipped him in the rear and off he went!

So after a LONG tow and $275 (it was much higer but the guys boss gave me a military/sorry you hit the deer in BFE discount) we spent the night in Missoula. Next morning I found out the truck was drivable. So after some NASCAR style after crash repairs we were back on the road. Until the truck said enough is enough and overheated 29 miles from the Idaho border. So another tow (this time a church group stopped and took Amber to the nearest town to call. Cell service was non-existant.) get's us to Kellogg, ID, home of "The Worlds Largest Dodge Dealer". They don't have a body shop. So we ended up at a small shop East of Kellogg. Luckily they were a nice shop. One of their painters actually offered to drive us to Post Falls, ID so I could have a co-worker get us back to base (I had a trailer I made on the Durango). So now I'm fighting with Allstate because they suck.

-End Rant/Report-

And just so everyone knows we were both unhurt, the airbags did not deploy, and so far I should only have to pay my deductible ($500) and my rental car (I thought I had rental reimbursment). Good thing my bonus payment came in!

Edit: I figured out the pictures.

44 you should see how they are screwing hurricane victims on the GULF allstate has one of the worse reputations.

But Julie Quinn a state senator and insurance lawyer might have the last laugh. Seems home owners insurance covers man made floods, pipe breaks etec. Well lets just say the New Orleans Levees are man made failures. The insurance companies have been so strict in the letter of the contract, well some lawyer forgot to exclude man made flooding from levee failure. OUCH

I have never been in your particular situation, but I have found USAA to be a VERY good insurance company. They are a bit more expensive than alot of other insurance companies, but they specialize in military personnell and are extremely helpful. They also have their own bank service that includes checking, home loans, auto loans etc....

Again, it is just my experiance so...

Weasel, glad you and Amber are safe. I'd highly recommend USAA, as well. I've been through a number of scrapes and they've come through every time, including one agent screwing over the gal that tried to hit me for the agent's own vindictive streak. lol

I narrowly tagged a deer south of Washtucna heading down to the Tri-Cities a couple of weeks ago, the jackass mulie freaked, spastically danced around the highway, and as I drove by it, it ran INTO the SIDE of my car. No damage I can find, which amazed me considering how it rocked my car. I hope I injured it to the point of being taken down by coyotes or die painfully from infection. I really want to go deer hunting, not for meat, and not for trophy, but purely for road safety and to satisfy the deep genocidal hatred I've developed for the "hoofed-rats" and "highway-hazards."

Admit nothing...
Deny everything...
Make counter-accusations.

Well, here's an update:
I had a talk with the body shop owner, he wanted to make sure I knew that if my insurance company requested aftermarket parts be used to repair the truck it would diminsh it's value, and what steps I could do to recoup those losses.

Well, no need! My insurance company wrote an estimate using ALL OEM parts! Which brought the total bill to about $5600! I'll be adding a "Cow Pusher" to the truck afterwards. I was told by both tow truck drivers and some guys at the body shop that it most likely would have driven all the way to Spokane if I had the "Pusher" on it. Oh well! $300 investment to save me some cash if this happens again.

New update:

I drove the hour and a half to Osburn the other day to sign the check and take a look at the beast after it was dismantled. Surprisingly it wasn't as bad as I thought. The body shop is doing in my opinion more than $5600 worth of work and giving me a great deal on it! These guys are awesome!
Oh, they're giving me the fender for a wall decoration! I saw on T.V. that Parnelli Jones had the fuselage of a crashed experimental plane he flew on his wall. So I figured, the deer got away, might as well have something to show for it!

Downside is it won't be done until Thursday at the latest. So I have to get the rental car for another 3-5 days (this time Amber is renting it. I'm not 25 so they want extra $$ for me!) She wants me to get my ghetto sled (See 1983 Chrysler E-Class) running (tranny issues) instead of renting for another few days. It'll be cheaper and a lot easier to just rent another car! So hopefully I'll have my 4X4 back before the snow sticks up here!

I always felt bad that I was a DCC on 166 longer than I was married at the time I left.

I guess She was trying to tell me something<img src=newicons/anim_lol.gif border=0 align=middle>

Good Deal Weasel!
Allstate wouldnt pay for anything BUT AMP for my wreck which wasnt the Ex's fault and then they got more in their "Settlement" then we got.
We got $1750.00, the insurance company was given $5000.00 by the other insurance company.
I found that out fround the other agent when they wouldnt pay for a new car seat.
So I DROPPED ALLSTATE!<img src=newicons/spit.gif border=0 align=middle>

But COSCO car seat Manuf. gave us a new one of OUR CHOICE ,for us sending them a letter telling them on how the car seat took impact with my Daughter in it and wasnt touched.,The passenger door actually was the impact and the door buckled in and the ($55.00) car seat took the hit!.
Cracked it! but she was SAFE.
So they sent us a brand new $250.00 seat over nite mail and picked up the old one for testing.

So We were only in good hands of the Car seat Company, that was the important thing.

My mom got hit by an Allstate guy several years ago, they were weasles from start to finish even though the guy admitted from the start that it was his fault.

That's some good info Goose. I'll be looking into those for my little one then. I'm giving the body shop a call to see if maybe they are farther than they thought they'd be. Maybe I'll get it back Wednesday.

You're only as old as you feel Chief!! By the way, I'm 23 and all the jets I've been assigned to have been 80 models! I don't even think I'm older than 82-665! Dice could verify that. My born on date is 17 July. I think 665 left the factory in June. Could be wrong though.

Mark it probly has as much or more to do with the agent than the parent company.

Well I got it back last night. Damn does it look nice!! I'll have pics up later today (I'm getting off shift after an hour of sleep in the last 36 hours). It doesn't even look like anything happened! I'll have to tell you the story of the electric fan incident later too. Lets just say I can drive through the "handle" of Idaho blind-folded now!

I've got great news! I dropped Allsucks and I'm back with the Gecko. Never had a problem with them so they've got my business back. It's also cheaper, even with no Comp deductible and roadside/rental reimbursment!
I've also filed a formal complaint with Allsucks regarding my agent not giving me the policy requiremnts I set forth. We'll see how that goes.

AS far as the fan incident: Neither the body shop or the insurance adjuster realized the truck had one! So i had to take what pieces I had the 3 hour round trip so I could have a new one paid for and installed. So all in all what have we learned:

ALLSTATE SUCKS, READ YOUR INSURANCE POLICY, AND I NEED TO GO HUNTING WITH A GUN AND NOT MY DURANGO!!!!
