Goose,

Here in Colorado we received our second blast of winter a couple of days ago. Looks like you are getting it now. First blast was a couple weeks ago and I had 2 feet drifted in my driveway. Then, 60+ degree weather for a few days and all the snow melted. This last blast wasn't too bad. Only a couple of inches of snow but colder than a well diggers ass in the Klondike. Zero and below with wind chills to -14. Supposed to be above freezing today (36 degrees) but maybe more snow tomorrow. Still, living here is great because the snow never stays all winter. I'm off work today enjoying my birthday. Bought myself a new 40" Sony LCD HDTV and my divorce is final in 27 days. Happy Birthday to meeeeee........

I knew there was a reason I stayed here in the south, 72 deg. but if it makes you feel better it is slightly overcast.. then again when isn't it.

And Happy Birthday Engineguy

Went to work last night with it sleeting like crazy, windshield wipers froze up about halfway there. Boss sent us home around 9:00PM after it took her a half hour to get to her house for lunch ( she has a 4x4 Jimmy ), normaly a 5 minute trip. I parked at the entrance to the plant at the top of the hill but had to walk a half mile through 4 inches of sleet to get the car when I left. Interstate 44 was a total mess last night and did a few fishtails getting onto the off ramp coming home, couldent make it all the way into the driveway. Wont be going to work unless I can snag a 4x4.

Happy Birthday Engine Guy!

I figure 30MM and Hogsnort cant log on because St Louis got
"HAMMERED!" Ice Storm and Hogsnort is under 6" to 12"+ snow falling still and our winds now are at 37mph steady with Gusts to 50mph!
we hardly got any snow ,about an 1" but all that water is Freezing now and its "HARD"

I got a "Pass this time" only by being 40 miles east of the Snow line.

This wind is Straight out of the NW and I bet they see 6ft+ plus drifts east of us by tonight .

I hate all of you. It hit -54 two weeks ago. NEGATIVE FIFTEY FOUR.
It's warmed up quite a bit though, it's only getting down the the -30's now. It started snowing about seven weeks ago.

Goose,
Had a couple days a week ago of only in the upper 50s. Getting up for work in the morning it was down in the upper 30s. Since then its been back up in the 60s, 70s, and even the 80s. Had some rain yesterday and today, but its still 70 or above. This comming week its supposed to get at the worst upper 20s, and only up to 50s.
Hope all you folks in the cold and snowy weather hang tough.

Started snowing about 1 this morning and is still coming down. Got maybe an inch or so. Cold though, in the teens. Perfect weather for jackb to wear shorts.
Thanks for the Birthday wishes guys. Had a designated driver last night so I indulged (or was it over-indulged?) a bit. Damn, I like Black Velvet.
Anyway, with the snow and college football on HDTV, I think I'll hunker down and have another cup of coffee.
Later
Chuck

Well Well Well...........Thanks for the thoughts there Goose!

Yes as I ventured into work at 8 p.m. Thursday night, I drove thru freezing rain and moderate winds. and only mildly slick roads at that time. As the night seemed to drag on we watched the winds pick-up and snow start to fall around 3 a.m.
Off work at 7:30 a.m. and went to pick up the wife, couple inches of ice and about 2-3 inches of snow. Not really that bad, just enough to make it tough going.

Wife being from California and raised in Las Vegas, got to experience her 1st real snow fall and what she called "Blizzard" conditions!
She about freaked as I drove out of Pontiac on 116 eastbound heading towards Saunemin/47. Leaving Pontiac the winds were tossing 20-30 at us and started to get into some white out conditions.
Thank God snow plows are painted orange!! I about had one as a hood ornament!

As it ended up, we had no power for 36 hours. 3 a.m. Friday until 3 p.m. Saturday. Wife not real happy! LOL

No power in a total electric house creates much discomfort ya know! Only thing in here not electric is the fire place and its natural gas so we had some heat anyway!

Presently 15 degrees. Looking for 20's tommorow with lows tommorow night of 0 - 5 degree's.

Now I am second guessing ever wanting to move back to Illinois from Mississippi......or for ever leaving Las Vegas now for that matter!! LOL

Stay Warm everyone! I know I will......I am about to attack a very large pot of chili I been smelling simmering all afternoon!

We got our net knocked out for four days. The lights just flickered. Driving in freezing rain mixed with snow is not fun.

Ignorance may be bliss, but it sure ain't fun!

Well i for one hate the winter, i could happily live in temps that only stay in the 70's. Unfortunately here in PA that doesn't happen!

I'm really not looking forward to putting the GTO in the snow again this year, i think i would be better off with a sled.

We ended up with about 3/8" ice on everything, so spent most of the weekend clearing downed limbs in the neighborhood. I only lost power briefly, but had an octagenarian neighbor as our guest for 2 1/2 days. About 75-100K homes still need power in the MetroArea. If this kind of crap is going to be the norm, I think it's time to invest in a serious generator.

Glad you made it over their Guys,
It was a BAD JOKE!
I had to go down to Danville Thursday it just F-ING RAINED! (3 1/2") the whole way then on the way back it started to freeze.
I was talking to another ODS Vet in the payroll line getting travel pay, they made him come over from Peoria for some stupid C&P exam and he had to beat a 1" of ice off before he left and it was NOON and he had to drive home, I hope he madev it.

Looks like this Friday it should just be cold, got a 0730 show down there for an Eye exam

Glad you guys made it thru,Lets hope those still 50,000 get some power soon, it was 9F this morning!

Goose
