Across the RI and CT shore, I have seen A-10s flying in pairs, apparently for homeland security. Anyone know why these planes are being used? Thanks

While the traditional Guard role has always been 'homeland security', these A-10s are not participating in the most recent version of homeland security, i.e. Operation Noble Eagle.
More than likely what you're seeing are the Bradley CT A-10s on routine training hops. They often fly down to Warren Grove range in NJ, and you probably see them either coming or going.
