Across the RI and CT shore, I have seen A-10s flying in pairs, apparently for homeland security. Anyone know why these planes are being used? Thanks

While the traditional Guard role has always been 'homeland security', these A-10s are not participating in the most recent version of homeland security, i.e. Operation Noble Eagle.

More than likely what you're seeing are the Bradley CT A-10s on routine training hops. They often fly down to Warren Grove range in NJ, and you probably see them either coming or going.

ATTACK!

Concur, I don't think CAS is a NOBLE EAGLE mission, unless the Canadians try to invade with their Leopard C2's or the Mexicans in their five M8 Stuart SPG's!

Cheers! M2

No, but they would be quite good for picking off rogue light aircraft<img src=newicons/anim_bs.gif border=0 align=middle>

forget the aircraft down here in the louisiana swamps they would make great anti drug, and immigrant smuggling aircraft. Putting a little fear in the air would be a perfect way get these fools to reconsider their chosen professions.

Just standard training. You probably just have not noticed until more recently because now more people are paying attention to aircraft that they never did before. There are 2 A-10 units that would use those routes or ones similair to that for their training missions.

Then again, maybe they are just watching you.

I have no Idea of what you speak Billy. The class is eating up social time I otherwise would probably be using to further pave my personal road to hell. I was gonna put in marble curbs but that seems to be put on temporary hold.
