Hi all, I have been reading this forum for more than a year now but just decided to join. I am not military but appreciate what the fine men and women do. That said, I am not a flag waver or a bleeding heart liberal. I see the things objectively.

But I really wanted to say that of all the airplanes in the world, the A-10 has to be the best. I first saw the A-10 when I was a kid at an airshow. Since then, I have always wanted to go up in one but bad eyesight and diabetes sort of nixed that. Too bad they don't make a two-seat version.

Anyway, I just wanted to share that I was out on a assignment a few weeks ago and at our National Guard base (I cover the military), an A-10 from a Maryland unit, I think, was parked on the tarmac. How cool. I got to go up to it, check it out, talk to the pilot and just gawk. Anyone who has ever gotten to fly one of these, damn, y'all are lucky.

Well, that's it. A fan letter and a cheesy one at that. No matter. I said what I wanted to say. Thanks for having the forum. Thanks for posting the pics and the tidbits on the plane. And thanks for the service men and women in this group who are out there.

Take care,

Andy

Welcome akravetz, you will see all your answers about the A-10 will be answerd (if it possible). And there was a A-10 two-seater in history. The test model is on display/museum in Edwards afb.

Salute and a good stay here

Welcome, akravetz. It really is a great place to kick back, park your feet on the front porch railing and have a beverage of your choice while discussing...whatever.
