According to a single and very “stupid” news photo release, published by DoD on August 3, 2005, at the Pentagon´s main website, A/OA-10A aircraft and personnel from the 81st FS, 52nd FW, Spangdahlem AB, Germany, participated in the recently multi national exercise “Clean Hunter 2005”. For this exercise, elements from the 81st FS deployed to “Trollenhagen Air Base”, Germany.

As the USAF photo caption suggests, Clean Hunter was a “search and rescue exercise”. Quote: “The Thunderbolts are providing air cover as Polish, German, and U.S. Air Force helicopter personnel practice extracting downed pilots from behind enemy lines …” But that´s not the full story of Clean Hunter 2005. In the next days I will post some updates.
