Goose Protects Soldiers, Takes out Alligators

(Cameron, LA)-- Soldiers from Alabama say a rescued goose in helping protect them after they saved the bird from hurricane muck. Task Force Alabama says soldiers found the goose they have named "Odie" in mud up to his neck near the Cameron Courthouse. After his rescue, the bird then befriended the soldiers and stayed near their camp. Sgt. Major Jerrold Denson says since then Odie has been responsible for the deaths of three alligators. The goose waits near marshy areas near the Soldiers' camp. When alligators come out to try and make a meal of him, Odie leads the gators onto the road. Three alligators have been hit and killed. A news release says, "Task Force Alabama can rest easy at night knowing Odie is on patrol... with the score... Odie - three, alligators - zero.
