Thanks for the link Stress, nice story. BTW I have a question about the last pic...when did the Stallion silhouette move from the fuselage to the tail?? Is that the wing kings jet or just something they did for the TDY, anybody know??

Dice, I wouldn't think that it's a wing king jet since it doesn't have the shadowed lettering (http://www.flightchief.com/photogallery ... hoto40.php), however it does appear as though they've been there on some of the jets for some time. JackB sent me this photo almost a year ago (http://www.flightchief.com/photogallery ... hoto57.php)

It looks good but, every time I see something like this I have to think to myself how DM & Nellis gets screwed (I don't include Pope because of the shark-teeth) when it comes to door, or any other kind of art, which could make their jets "stand-out" from other units. IMHO it's just not fair but, I guess DM has gotten a little "pay-back" with the muzzle art...good on them!!

Come to think about it I guess Spang is going through a dry-spell right now also.

There never seemd to be any real continuity for which jets had the mustangs where. Some had them on the tail, some on the fuselage, but it seemed completely randomn. The big dipper on the stabs at Eielson are the same way: Some jets have them on the inboard side of the tail, some on the outboard side, and some not at all.

Are eilsons dippers on the rudder caps or on the vertical stab ? If they are on the caps, the rudders just may have been swapped out for a repair and put on a different jet on the opposite side. Thats why we stripe both sides of our rudders but leave any other markings off the rudder itself.

They are on the vertical stab, a few feet big.
