I believe 2002. I remember for sure doing them during 2001, but I don't specifically recall doing them in 2002. I am sure they were gone by the spring of 2002, but we may have done some in the beginning of the year.

WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!NO ICT's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!???????????????

Boy, the USAF has CHANGED!<img src=icon_smile_dissapprove.gif border=0 align=middle>

ICT's were as common as working 12 hour shifts, having to Gas,load,THRU/FLT in less than I forget how many mins or you failed or if you did something that one of the "WLT or QA" didnt like

Carl was on a few of my ICT's,plus Vinne and Hutch, they were good weapon crews to have ,Trickylil was a great ICT Auggee too she pulled her weight!
Carl was it your crew or Vinnies who held the ICT turn record for 9th AF ??
Doing TIGER THRUST is full chem gear all day ICTing jets, then came
GW1 and man that was "ICT HEAVEN!!!" all that training paid off!
Then your training just "KICKED-IN".

Why did they stop that?

I guess they figured it was just as fast to do hot pits and then load a jet or generate another line or do a CSO instead. Did those at Osan, but I haven't seen a single CSO done since I got to Eielson.

During GW1 we hot-pitted the jets then to ICT spots, most of the time we did ICT's we hot-pitted the Jets,
We normally used trucks during "SORTIE SURGES" if the 75th and 74th were hot pitting and when we did our "Qualifying" ICT's.

But then again at FHAD since the pits were on our end, alot of
"PRE-ICT" work went on during the refuel when we were at MAX sortie rate, couldn't loose the TOT the pilots needed so we "CHEATED"

I know it was against the rules, but we did alot of things not "TO" approved.

We would ICT the birds at times and have them sit on 10 min alert with engines on,pilot would need to "GO" we would swap out with the pilot so he could do his thing and sit in the seat while keeping the engines going.
Changed a tire or 2 while on alert etc.....with them running too

We just got lucky that nothing happened, but we did what was needed.

So really the ICT didnt go away ,they just dropped the Fuel truck part of it.

Well, the CSOs we did at Osan we didnt drop the fuel truck, we just got rid of the pilot. They jet woudl taxi in and shut down. As soon as the pilot was out, the Crew Chief did his thing like normal (gas, intakes, fuel...) and so did weapons at the same time. The only difference between the CSOs we did and the ICTs were no pilot/running engines and it was only one Crew Chief instead of two.

You Folks are alot shorter of folks then we were then,it was always a 3 person crew on APG side.
2 CrewChiefs and a ICT Auggee(specialist)who did chocks, pin the gear etc....helped with Chaff and Flare cans helped look over the jet etc... then you had the Weapons crew.
6 folks working each jet. We'd normally at home,if your jet was on the ICT list the DCC and ACC would be on it,auggee was who needed it and you normally had 1 or 2 dedicated weapons crew that would be was assigned that ICT team they'd choose from depending on who was available.

Carl ,Hutch and Vinnie's teams were the ones I had 90% of the time depending on what year it was and shift and which crew was available .
You got to know how each other worked, they'd help you,you would help them by prepping the pylons etc...

It was really nice because you worked with them all the time, that you could trust everyone and if they said it was "Good" it was "Good".
When the Weapons 1 would check over his teams work,I would do a once over too then sign-off the forms.

You built a trust that if they forgot to sign something, you had no problem signing it off for them they'd do the same for you.

I guess thats whats differant today being short handed.

Goose you said you changed a tire on \"alert\" at KFIA. I saw stuff like that also. Heck, my crew and I reconfiged jets during an ICT's. Dropped TER and 117's and uploaded parent mount CBU's. Swapped out and functional checked TER's, DRA's, etc. The strangest thing I did was change a gun bolt on an ICT.

Either the EOR or Hot Pit crew found a broken roller off of one the gun bolts. They still sent the jet to ICT. The expiditer got a new one from supply and my crew and I changed it out on the spot. Anyone that has any knowledge of the GAU-8/A gun knows what a bear that job can be? Now, do it during an ICT.

I agree. I had a crappy Kodak Disk camera that didnt survive my first extended field problem. As a result, all i really have are pix from basic, and a few from when i first got to my unit, plus a few that other guys took that i got prints of.

Had i known how special those memories would be all these years later, id have replaced that camera when it broke. LOL.
