You mean enough that they're not using the taxiways like they did last time?

First time I hear it. I hope to visit Spangdahlem AB in May. Glad that is not forever (not yet).

Its a shame they are not permanently based at LN, they do have the room at Lakenheath and access to some decent ranges.
They operated out of the old 495th TFS HAS area back in April 2005 for Exercise Vanguard.
I've read this TDY rumour on a British forum.
(Unfortunately the forum in question has a small but annoying group of rabid lefties which can spoil things)

For a few weeks in the summer, the car park at LN will be packed, stand by for some good photographs 8)

I read yesterday on another forum, not here, that the Warthogs goes to Lakenheath and the Vipers to Incirlik. I can't find any news about this on the site of Spangdahlem.

It is expected that this summer will see the temporary return of the A10 to the UK. From 12th June to 31st July A10s from Germany will be deployed to RAF lakenheath. They plan both rocket, strafe and bombing using both practice bombs and 500 lb bombs. They will be using both Wash ranges, RAF Wainfleet and RAF Holbeach.

Quote:
From 15 June till 20 July Spangdahlems runway will be closed. The A-10's will operate out of Lakenheath. one F-16 squadron is going to Nellis for Green Flag, the other one will be stationed at nearby Büchel.

Jimbo? Are you by chance ywhere near or going to be anywhere near to Bedford?
My Mother is from Bedford, and I thought maybe if your ther, as I know Cambridge isnt that far away, you might have a chance to stop and grab a couple shots of graves markings of my Grandparents?
I would of course send you payment for whatever you were to encounter.

If this is a slight possibility, let me know and I will check with my Mom for the Cemetary and if its accessible.

Cheers!

Hopefully not too far odd topic, and it does include mention of Lawndarts. [puke]

But I remember tell from years back when Hill 1st got the 16's and sent them out for some runway repairs. Story was took up all the rubber buildup on the approaches and landing areas, resurfaced all taxi ways and repainted all stripes on the ramp area.

The big laugh was that when the 16's came home to Hill and taxied into their repective positions, the crew chiefs found the intakes were all \"Blue\"!

Was told it was from them sucking the paint off the taxiways , as it wasnt dry yet!

Leg's been pulled a few times and wasnt ever real sure about this one either!
Dice? ANy of you gang at Hill know of anthing like this?

What was the blue paint supposedly from?

Thats what we could never figure out? We were told it was the taxi line paint that had seperated into basic colors, and the intakes being a blue tint when the chiefs "Shot the tubes".
