I think most of you know what happened after my foot/leg surgeries. If you don't, I developed blood clots in both legs. I found out this is a Medical Boardable condition. My package was started in Novemeber and was finally sent to Randolph (where the conduct the Informal Physical Evaluation Boards) on Feb 9. I got the results today. 20% disabled, discharge with severance.

Thankfully, I've had Goose to answer all of my questions along the way. He kept me from opening my my mouth and inserting my foot. Once again thanks Goose.

So in about 45 days I'll be a civilian again for the first time in 6 1.2 years. But don't even think that I won't be on here still!

Sorry to hear of your woes but at lease youve gotten a resolution. I hope the terms of your discharge are to your approval.

Well Weasel I know I speak for all of the board members when I say that we are sorry for ya. I guess it is even worse if you had plans on a career. We all hope the best for you. But above all, we thank you for the loyal time you gave your country and comrades.

All I did was play \"What if\"? with you on your choices. I think by what I know you made the right choice (really they didn't give you much to choose from) and you rather of been healthy .

As far as where we'll end up, we're not sure. My wife is \"family\"sick but doesn't really want to go back to AZ. I'd like to go back to Michigan (pretty close Evan), but the economy there is going down faster than a teacher on a student. If I don't get a good job offer in AZ or MI by the time we are out, we'll probably go back to AZ since the market there is pretty open for IT personnel. I have sent my resume and applications out for a couple GS positions (one in MI and one in AZ). Now that I've got a semi-firm separation date, I'm going to contact those two and see if that ups my preference points a little. I don't think I can get the 10 point (30% disabled Vet) preference until I see the VA and get my full rating.

Jake,

You know that time in \"The AOR\" counts on preference.
Combat assignments count towards points for that.
You serving in \"Afaganny land and with the \"War on Terror\" Acts that have been passed, you might be surprised .States have passed laws giving this Cat of Vets preference too.
So make sure on your Resume that you list \"Your awards and ribbons\" as well as duty in the AOR.
So dont dismiss State jobs either in the Veterans Affairs Office or even in IT areas of State Government.
Plus when you get out, see if your home State gives out \"War Bonuses \" for time serving in the AOR.
Some states pay \"$100 to $500+\" for that. Example I got out and the State of Illinois gave me \"Tax Free\" $100\" for Desert Storm Duty\"

That goes for all you guys who have served in a AOR, check with your \"Home of Record\" if your eligible WHILE still in or you have to be discharged.

Hey guy's, I got a problem and need some help.

A co-worker of mine also has blood clots. Unfortunately he is genetically predisposed. He got his Medical Board back today and they are trying to boot him with an \"Existed Prior To Service\" rating. No severance, no benefits, nothing. He's been in for 7+ years and I thought there was some sort of reg that states if you've been in over 6 years you were immune to an EPTS rating.

Goose, you told me something about CFR 38, was it paragraph 4.22 that you told me about? He's getting the same treatment you told me about and I don't want to see him get bent over. He's already sent his disagreement letter down to Randolph and will be going to the Formal Board in a few weeks.

He filed a \"NOD\" which is in his favor and he is entitled to Counsel for the MEB.
He'll have to be able to back it all up with medical,and service records BUT the USAF has to do the same thing.
They'll have to disclose any and all records they made their decision's on.
Its way above my pay grade, he needs to get an expert to look it over.
