They never really got to the bottom of it, everything from a plausible oxygen system failure to conspiracy theorists wild tales of gay lovers with some Jehovah's Witnesses thrown in for good measure.

I'm not sure, but can't lack of oxygen cause irrational behavior? I would have to start looking for them, but I remember reading stories about mountaineers who, at extreme altitudes, saw their buddies trying to pull of their clothes even though they were almost freezing to death at the time. In the case of mountain climbing stories, it could also be a side effect of hypothermia.

You are correct; as hypoxia progresses toward anoxia, a person actually has a euphoric sense of well being. But I think that is a stretch because military pilots are trained to recognise the symptoms of hypoxia. When I was in flight school at Bob Jones University, all comercial aviation majors were recquired under the course code to pay for and attend the altitude chamber at Shaw Air Force Base before finishing their instrument rating and beginning their commercial training. It was cool. I was the first one to pass out. But there was guy in my class; a marathon runner from Denver that could count backwards from 100, say the alphabet backwards, and recite his girlfreinds phone number without a mask at 30,00 ft altitude. After about 12 or 13 minutes with no apparent side affects, the young lady running the chamber made him put his mask on. This is while I was still picking the oxygen regulator out of my teeth.

Hypoxis my butt he flew the route using all his training and did it rather well. He offloaded his belly stores in the middle of nowhere so not to hurt anyone else and poped up once just long enough for everyone to know his track and than right back in the dirt. Till he kissed a hill side. I am no doctor but he seemed to know what he was doing.

Nothing extreme about the altitudes the Hog pilot reaches, especially in training. I think the max altitude I got to in training was 18000 ft...high enough for hypoxia, but not with cabin pressurization. They were enroute to their training area as well, which means they definitely were not that high. I think it's pretty clear this dude just kind of spontaneously lost a nut in his nugget that caused a severe hydraulic leak and loss of bodily control. I hate when that happens.

\"a nut in his nugget?\" Is that in the aircraft, in the human body or in the 'mind'? I mean, hydraulic leaks occur in machines, bodily control can only be lost if you're a human - I can't understand this setence from the context.

Button's crash is still a mystery. It's either a highly unlikely human failure or a highly unlikely technical failure, but it has to be either one nontheless... so a tricky business this is!

Well you see, I'm dutch. The subtleties of the american language are lost on me. I do know what a noggin (brain) is though and what a nugget (piece of gold) is. I also know what a nut (whacko, insano or just the complenatery of a bolt) is, or a loose screw (missing item in a brain or a means of joining stuff together), just not a nut in a nugget. - *points at signature*

Oh, sorry Mike Mike. I had made a post and it dissapeared. ( I was useing my cellphone to post)

Anyways I was going to speak on this, But better I shouldnt, I was one of the Investigating Officers (safety Board)

The Collateral Board had determined that Capt. Craig Button was in control of the aircraft, and had been manuevering low level. The aircraft was found without the bomb Wires (he jettisoned the Rack/Bombs (4 500lb's)

Their is all kind of speculation on the Why's he did it, and none of them really directly said as to why This event took place.

Type 7 and I highly dispute the Official Findings....

There are a ton of things that went wrong with that flight , and i was completely dismayed at the lack of Comms, and SA of the flight members. It lead to allot of my recomendations to the Board.
