I saw a picture on www.airliners.net that the twoseater is painted again and dark cockpit glasses. I knew it was removed from his dessert place at Edwards afb, thanks to google earth and the new picture release last year.
Somebody more information? Here under a link with the new colour and before that.

WOW, the old girl is looking good! I wish there was a shot of the lefthand side...was wondering if they painted the nose art back on it?

Man thats a Great Job on her, that would be nice to see if they did put the Owl on her nose.
I wonder If they'll finish putting on her markings?

any idea why they painted her canopy if she's going to be in a museum? I thought they only did that for gate guards so the sun doesn't wear out the insides.

She does look good, glad to see the AF is finally giving her some respect

I hate our proxy filter. I'll have to wait until I get home to look at the pics.

Guys, I get a mail and answer back from Edwards afb about the repainting and get it with three old pictures from the seventies.
It is repainting for the museum and they told me, it has not a dark canopy. I answerd that and include the mail with the picture (with dark canopy) and ask them also about the nose-art if that is painted to. If I get the answer about those questions, I write it here.

Yea Dutchy keep us informed on what you find out. I think the “black canopies” may just be a dark film (like used on car windows) and not painted. I’m pretty sure there is not much left of the interior of the aircraft so there’s not much to see inside.

We have to wait, because they gave mine question about the painting etc to the Curator of the Air Force Flight Test Center Museum.
I let you know what he said. Edwards afb answerd very quick about mine questions so far. Great!!

Finaly I got an answer. You can all see at the link that I placed it is repainted in the grey color. You see the right side of it. Today I got the mail about mine question if the Owl is back on the left side. Answer is: No not yet.
They showed me 2 pictures were I can see both sides.

Actually I bet the dark canopy is so you cant see the double super secret cockpit mods. They just want us to think its a museum piece when its really operational. Shhhh, they might be listening.

How do you hear silent helicopters?
And the hawg is the Aurora! [lol]
And I suppose the \"donut\" contrail is really just the gun smoke, and the little puffs are backfires when the bullet RE-ENTERS the gun through the muzzle because it is going too fast!!! [lol]
