On April 14th 2007 the 188th Fighter Wing will launch its last local training flight of F-16 Vipers and upon returning will welcome the first arrival of A-10 Thunderbolt II (WartHog). The City of Fort Smith and the 188th has dubbed this date WartHog Day in conjunction with Family Day and will be observed by thousands of military members, families, retirees, and invited civilian guest to the base.
The USAF A-10 demo Team will demonstate the capabilities of the WartHog throughout the day. :D

Bought last week the magazine Combat Aircraft and in that I read a BRAC list. They get 18 Warthogs, but nicer was that I saw on a picture that they flew in their Vipers with a head of a Warthog on their tail. Hopely the A-10's gonna do that in the future.

We all are very excited and I'll assure that pictures will be posted. I did hear through the grapevine that we may have a new design on these birds. I do like the Razorback head tail flashing.

Maybe nice for some of you a little background of the A-10's?!
I read in the magazine Combat Aircraft.
The planes come from the 104th FW and the 188th FW will be the 3rd wing operate with the C version. At the end of this year is it complete and the first arrive on the day what Hawgwild told us.

I have on question: What is the patch of the 188th FW? I only know that the Vipers fly with a nice and original painted tail. Hope the Hawgs get it.
See the link and pictures on it.

Please do so.

Local PAO says the event is NOT open to the general public so all coverage is well appreciated. [banana]

It's not a Warthog on the tail per se. It is a Flyin' Fightin' Arkansas Razorback. GO HOGS GO!

Thanks Skywarriors, I like the nose art also. It looks like we do have critics out there though. It keeps with the old tail flashing that was on the 16's to the same type style for the 10's nose.

Can't please everyone but it is a hit at the 188th and in the Ft Smith area.

Hawgwild, I don't think We're knocking the nose art (well maybe a little) but, just giving our honest opinions. Like I said in the other thread I was hoping for something a little more "unique" but, I'm sure I, and everyone else, will get used to it. hey, as long as you guys are happy with it that's all that matters.

BTW I will support you guys with the Warthog Pen, and anything else I can do, whenever you need it. Welcome to the Hawg community! :D

Now lets start getting some of them doors painted down there.... [banana]

I'm just not crazy about the nose art, sorry .
I think the \"Warthog\" paint job would of been more fitting.

But glad she'll be flying still no matter what paint job (Teeth were the Best
with the Euro-1 paint job) but I'm bias.

Good luck to you Guys.

Goose

Yea, took me a while to get used to the fact I no longer worked the Hawg also. [mad] Just because you no longer work the A-10 doesn't mean you can stay involved, look at half the people who post here and don't work the old girl any more.....

Come on guys.

Don't feel too bad.

The warthog is still there. Survied the Cold War, 2 wars in Iraq, OEF and kosovo.

Not many jets can say that. [salute]

Phantoms gone, Tomcats gone but the A-10 is still going strong.
