The Hog Head on the nose is awesome. To bad the weather wasn't better, but it was a impressive show anyways.

I’m sorry to say I will be a little disappointed if that is what they go with. I mean Barksdale (and Pope to some extent) has the “Hog face” covered already so, I was hoping for something unique from FT. Smith. I would have rather seen the Razorback on the tail because at least that is unique to their base and a tie to their past. Also is that pink on the tail flash??

I guess the whole hog nose thing was just too tempting to pass up. Hopefully it'll develop a life of it's own and change a little over time.

I guess you're right Aceart I was just hoping for something "new" to add to the Hawg legacy.

Kinda cool, though it looks better from the front/side angle than a straight side-view shot. Looks a little too \"sports-team-helmet-design\" for me tho.

Gotta admit, I prefer the Barksdale Hawg's noses...plus it is a little too much with the tail, engine cowlings and nose art. Hell, I remember when the 81 FS at Spang had to take the Panthers off the engine cowlings...made them look stark naked. However, this is almost the opposite extreme. I think keeping the Arkansas hawg on the tail would've been quite distinctive...

I gotta agree with DIce on this one!
The nose wrap hog on the Barksdale birds and of course the Original Grins of my old Flying Tiger birds should have been enough for the razors to go with the tails they had or something entirely different.

If it was a new concept maybe, it doesnt look that bad.

But......with it already being done twice before, maybe Jackb's conceept also applies! [puke]

I agree with everyone, if they were going with the \"Hog\" theme it should of been the \"Oringal Hog face from BD or they should of kept the \"Tail Flash\" from the vipers.

Sorry but it looks like a \"Cartoon\" just my Opinion I'm sure it'll look better over time.

I would almost liked the \"Razor Back\" tail Flash and left the Nose \"Clean\" except for letting the Crews put the \"Nose Art on\"
Alot of Beautiful art was painted on the noses from the Beach and Cajuns
A-10's

Well I think it looks great! Just because other AD and Reserve units have the hog and teeth doesn't mean the Guard can't join in!

To my mind, the tail is too small for the face as well as the official stuff like the tail number and stripe. It works on the nose because of the gun. The cowling is perfect for the big Razorback diamond and it is great to see it big and prominant just like it used to be on the F-4 of old. Hats off to whoever designed the markings.

I agree with Dice-man. This should be on the tail, just like the Vipers before. Tradition, that is the only simply reason for it. Others squadrons has allready a Hog on the nose. Make a bigger difference between those.
I must say, it looks good but it has to be on the tail.

Are there any other A-10's out there with tail art? I do not remember ever seeing one before.

I think I would take the diamond hog off and just have the Flying Razorbacks on the engine cover myself. Otherwise it looks great.

Eielson has the Big Dipper/North Star combo and Osan has the stallion, which moved from the fuselage to the tail a few years ago.

In Spangdahlem the Warthogs had Pantherheads on both sides of the engines (you know what I meant). But that is also gone :(
You can see in the latest book of Don Logan that some wings and squadrons are unique and original with painting on the planes.

Unfortunately, I've watched the big dipper get removed off the tails of the jets here over the past 2 1/2 yrs. It used to be very predominant, but I don't think any of the jets have it left anymore. If I remember tonight I'll check.

I have to agree, it would look a lot better if it where just on the tail like the one on the F-16. The hog nose on the BD aircraft looks good because they incorporated the design of the aircraft in with the artwork (i.e. the bug eye antennas are the nose of the hog). As for the Flying Tigers, well they are the Flying Tigers and those Teeth look good almost anywhere (notice I said \"almost\", exceptions to this rule would be on the F-16 and C-130).

What a mouthful!

Truer words were never spoken..........leave the teeth as they were.......on the A-10 ONLY! lol

THe C-130 looks ridiculous................I have not seen a Lawn Dart or Huey with the teeth. Not sure I want to ! LOL
