Today the 104th FW at Barnes ANGB in Westfield, MA flew its last local sortie after 28 years with the Hawg. The last flight was made by 79-216, an A-10 that we got from Moody I think about 8 or 9 years ago.

I said this to a few of my fellow Crew Chiefs earlier and I'll say it here. I want to thank evryone for all the threads and all the heartfelt BOOYAS that have been passed my way in the past four years that I have been posting here. I especially want to thank Goose (with two O's) for all the info that he passed to me from the Goose archives on aircraft 166. I am sure that he helped me make it a better jet. It was a good run and I think we made a pretty good name for ourselves. If I have one wish, it would be that we have given Fort Smith the best mechanical A-10's in the fleet and that they use them for their intended purpose.

Billy ,

You really did a Great Job :!: with her, 0166 is a Good Hog! You spent alot of years with her ,more then I did.
When you spend 6 years of your life Dedicated to A-10 its like one of your own family, Just like the Crew Chiefs after yourself.
Billy no matter what you ever do , your still part of the \"0166\" Family, no matter what color is, what Squadron, or where she's at.

When Father Ray blessed her in 86 at Leck AB Germany it went something like this
\"Holy Father,May you watch over 0166 and Bless those who Fly and work on her keep them safe and sound and let No Harm fall upon them we ask this in your Holy name Amen\"

I wrote it down its in the Safety deposit box but that s pretty close.

I know it sounds \"Stupid\" but I swear today thats what has kept her safe and sound during her Combat sorties, Some of the pilots stories confirmed that (Well in my mind)

I still believe that He is still watching over Her (0166) and those who Fly and Work on her and will do it for the next Crew Chiefs too like us.

I salute you Billy for a Job well done.

[salute]

Your Bro Goose

We'll miss you at the FOL! Good luck Billy! Too bad the weather was crappy yesterday at the FOL. Would have been nice to say goodbye to the Barnestormers.
Cheers.

Dice I just walked to the post office with my six year old and sent you the photo of our last conversion. Its really cool; an A-10 in formation with one of our Huns. Should be there in a few days.

If it's Sat I don't think I can make it as my wife has a test, if it's Sunday I'm your guy and would love to catch them coming in.

Give me a call if/when you hear anything.

Thanks,
