This is not a new sim but Flacon4 ORI, Falcon5, or what ever they are calling it this week. G2i, is the owner of the sorce code to Falcon4 and you want to see a mess of a sim community go to Furgals World (www.frugalsworld.com) and stop by the flacon4 section and mention G2i and see what you get. Even better go into the Falcon4 section and metion Lock-on Modern Air Combat and see what happens!

They (some in F4 community) are IMHO the biggest snobs in the sim world and look down on anyone who plays any other sim. I would not want my name or the A-10 (even in game form) anywhere near this game!

Like I said above before you deside to help with this project go to Furgal's world (great site and a nice owner but Flacon4's largest deicated site) and ask their opinion on other sims like LOMAC, Strike Fighters Project1, or any other flight sim on the market and see what kind of people you will be helping....off my soap-box now!

You can help, not help, heckle from the grandstands- whatever suits each of you is fine with me. ;)

I know how you feel about the Frugals Falcon 4.0 Crowd. I have the same feelings. I have been banned in the past from both Sim HQ and Frugals for stateing facts about the F16 and each Subsequent blocks. having spent 6 years operational and another 2 in test Flying them. the community didnt want to hear the truth about how the sim was modeled.

However we need to look at the facts. Microprose developed the original sim. they went backrupt and a disgruntled programmer released the code. The sim community took it upon themselves to modify and add too a program that was number 1 "Proprietary copyrighted media" G2 interactive came along and bought the rights to the program. but insterad of hunting down those that were involved in bettering the sim as a hobby. Allowed them to continue on their work. At which time it was G2interactives right being the owners of this intellectual property to inform them to seise and desist any future modifications.

The sim community is pissed off, no doubt about it. but the facts are. they do not own the property. The other fact is that the online community is not even 1% of the demographic that buys the product.

I know how you feel about them dice. I also know how much insult i recieved when i first came to this site just because i happened to have "Viper" in my jacket. I was hit with a ton of prejudice and insults, that at times continue to this day. For that, I throw it right back in your face. I am a bigger man than that. I will invest my time, talents and efforts into anyone that is willing to represent the USAF in a good light. That includes me for supporting you on your Warthog territory forums, In the www.lo-mac.com development, insuring you had the latest beta builds so that you could stay behind the shovel helping the developers get the a10 to where it is today. The same went for my F15. I did allot to help get that to where it is today, even if i came along late in the design phase. I am not a A10 Driver. but i will still suport this communities efforts..Becasue its my service and brothers being represented.

I am not going to walk away from an opportunity that will allow for a better entertaining product, regardless of the bums sleeping on the sidewalk out side the development house.

You can choose to ignore a group. or you can change it from the inside out. I prefer to make sure that what they do develope is factual and realistic as much as a virtual code of software can represent.

Think about it Joe.... It is the A10 they want help on. You cant tell me that them modeling an a10 without the facts is going to sit well in your stomach. It sure doesnt in my book.

Actually Dice and MrMudd are right.
The posters at Frugalsworld are considered the hardcore of Falcon4 and regretfully some don't even have a clue on what is going on the latest months and are hereby assuming A LOT.
Regretfully Mark (the owner of FW) has seen this too and is keeping himself busy on other matters now, which I find good as he is one of the finest people I've ever met and I hope he doesn't read what BS is going around in there.

That most don't care about other sims, is not such a big deal.
Everybody has his specific things he likes or doesn't like, that's life.
But they shouldn't go kicking people with other opinions on other sims or other subjects.
And lately that has happend a LOT.
As Dice stated it is indeed a fact that some of them are getting "a kick" out of this.

Everybody has his opinion on something, they should learn to say their opinion and respect someone elses.
And move on instead of trying to shove their opinion in someones face and start calling names if they can't convince the other.
Even my posting has gone down on FW, while I was almost an hourly poster a couple of months back.

Now Falcon4 isn't Frugalsworld.
Those are just a few people, and even not all of them are how Dice described them. (But yeah I admit several can drain the blood from under ur nails.)
There are many people that don't even know that FW exists, there are thousands of people that never played Falcon at the stage that it is now.
You can't blame Falcon4 for what some people of the comunity are writing on FW.

Claude is trying to get this sim back into bussiness and is doing a great job too, but some on FW are too shortsighted or too busy complaining to see this.

I'm sure Dice knows me from FW, and knows I've always been the moderate dude trying to get things back together.
Now G2interactive is doing just that.

I am not here for F4UT nor for the posters at Frugalsworld.
I am here to ask to support a flightsim that is unique in the way it brings flightsims to the people.
It's a study sim, and studysims should get as real as possible.
There is no way to do this without the help of men and women that flown or worked with this marvelous one-of-a-kind combataircraft.

Pls see further then a bunch of people on a forum.

With friendly regards,

Dirk "Pacman" Verbist

Pacman/MrMudd, I will take what you have both said and think about it. Then again I'm only one person here and no say on what others on this forum do so, how I feel will have little to do with this effort anyway.

How's it going. what kind of flying info do you want. I work on the A-10. I don't have many photos but I can field any questions regaurding instumentation, Heads up displays, avionics, performance spec and so on
Let me know, I'd play the hell out of an A-10 only sim.

BTW I love your sig 422!!!

I thought this thread was asking for specific info on flight handling caracteristics and info on the A-10. I sent some generic pic off a web site because again specific pictues were not asked for. The question asked by this thread was generic, so the post was as well. If an offer to answer more specific questions is going to be joked-at fine. Fire away Dice.

I take it Dice must be Eglin 422, Peace out.

I don't what to start off with any bad mojo here 422 so I will let this go but, if you look at the first post (email) you will see he asked for cockpit shots. In my post (second post) you will see this is not to be an A-10 only sim, in fact it's mainly an F-16 sim with an A-10 addon.

The way you posted above gave me the impression you may have been one of the many "Possers" we get here sometime...you know the kid who posts he flew A-10s in Nam in 1969.

If you are with the 422 I'm going to shoot you an email (the one you used to register) with my DSN so you can give me a call and we can talk. I have been helping with another sim (Lock-on modern Air Combat) which will include the A-10 due out in a month of so and have learned a thing or two about how to go about this.

Dice, you got me rolling over laughing. I'm sure that that pic that he posted gave Pacman some really nice inside stuff to go on. Pictures like that just aren't readily available these days. BTW, why do game developers have to come to web forums to get cockpit shots? If it were me I'd so straight to the SPO.
Sorry, 422, but that was wicked funny...

Cheers...

The main reason is it bypasses the Public affairs (PA) system (which as we all known can take a while and be a pain) so they can get info quicker and with less hassle. Also some don't even know about the SPO or PA so the intranet is their best source of info.

One of the main things when someone wants to do a sim is they should pick a time frame to model which doesn't model the airframes (to a large extent) sitting on the ramps today. Like in LOMAC they modeled a LASTE 4.0, non-CMS/NVG/EGI mid 1990s Hog which meant most of the system(s) info was easier to get.

I don't know what G2 Interactive is planning with their Hawg because I can't get anyone to answer my questions on the subject, here or on their offical site forum. If they want to do a 2003 A-10 it will take a while to get some of the system info released (if it can be released) so there will be a long lead time modeling the A-10. As I understand it they are already in beta testing so what systems are modeled and where the system info came from I have no idea.

Sorry I missed the the note about cockpit shots. I have some older shots from previous mods/valveras. Most are from pre egi cockpits. Feel free to shot an email my way. The one I have posted is my personal email but you can shoot one to Joshua.Forest@nellis.af.mil too if you like. I'll check my personal e-mail tonight. Just shooting some help out. Its been a long time since I have even heard about a flight sim that would even include A-10's well. Just jumped on the idea.
Peace

Understand 442 and that's why I backed down a notch and checked your profile to see what was there. Yes LOMAC ( www.lo-mac.com ) will be out soon and it will have the A-10 in it. A coulpe of site you can visit to see some screenshots and get info on this sim are

www.biohazcentral.com ( you will find MrMudd and me there)

www.lo-mac.com ( I help run the forums there)

www.simhq.com (you can find MrMudd and me there also)

We can always use new blood on this forum (and the others) but seeing how a lot of us are current or X military we will jump on a "posser" pretty quick if we think we've spotted one. We also are very senitive to OPS/COM SEC and that's something you have to watch when working with sim developers.

Well, off my soapboxm welcome aboard and looking forward to your imputs! BTW dude you have to change your sig I have used it for the past few years! <img src=icon_smile_approve.gif border=0 align=middle>

Thnx for the words Dice. I take OPSEC/COMSEC seriously but those issues can be dicussed over DSN or in confrence. About my signing though. Thats the motto on My current 57TH AMXS coin. I don't know if I want to change that. I give it some thought though. Thx for the links.
