I am looking for help about the history and possibly photos of the a-10. I am almost positive their was an aircraft fitted with turbo props with the same frame appearance as todays a-10. Am I just imagining things?

I have also recalled pictures of the a-10 with the engines physically mounted on the tail wings (turbo fans) and the latest with what looks like sleeker jet engines on the rear sides. could you help me get these issues straight? A pic of each would do the justice.
Thanks for your time.

Ya gotta love that turret. Not only does it dirty the airflow to the rear centerline engine, it probably ejects shells directly into the first fan stator Fodding that bad boy out. The engine shop must really hate that modification.

the second thing is that the turret is only capable of a 1-2 0'clock, 4-5 O'Clock 7-8 O'clock 10-11 O'clock shot, and everything up and above.

The idea of two 60mm barrels rear of the pilot has got to be nerver racking. If it fails and i pull this trigger..Its goona take his head clean off!

The Engines in the wings are a clasic for eating a IR heater, Blowing hte wing clear off.

That turret up top rocks. Kinda like the Fairy Battle from the Brits in WWII, or the P61.

Yep after 8 hours of web searching I have come to the conclusion that I have a very good imagination... However it does kind of resemble the p 38 and p 41 black widdow. Their is a french passenger plane thats small and has engines the same place as the a 10 with props instead of jets. Looks real goofey :) The only actual pusher prop do jobber is the latest UAV reconasance Airforce planes. I am happy that my question was entertaining to some of you.....now I will go crawl under a rock ....... and thanks for the GI joe deals.. You must admit that never being up close to an a-10 and only seeing some photos that some of the pics from the front make the engines appear all the way to the back. Thanks again for entertaing my question...

I had the blue rattler when I was a kid...funny how much cooler I thought it looked back then....BUT...one cool thing I remember...it came with some panels that could be removed & and panels that looked like they had been damaged installed...nothing like a little GI Joe ABDR repair work....

Wow, If you hang around here long enough you do get the same topics over again. I remember this when I first came on how many years ago. Well now that I have seen it all bye.

Dear Abby, I joined the Navy to see the world. I've seen it. Now,
how do I get out?
