I’ve been asked to come-up with a design (and saying) for a patch for the precision Engagement mod team and I‘m asking for your thoughts and ideas. The patch needs to show the PE capabilities while retaining the Hog basics.

My first thoughts are to use the aircraft and tank in the below door art but add a laser pod on the wing with a red line leading to a GBU-12 instead of the MK-82. My saying would be either “Precision Engagement adding precision to power“, or “Precision Engagement completing the total package.”

Ok now for your ideas....and BTW I will make sure whoever design (or the closes to the design that’s used) will get a patch.

Crap, server not working again, I'm dropping these losers as soon as I can and get someone I can depend on. The image is on page 2 of my door art section and is # 56 if you can get it to load!

"Power and Precision"
"Hammer and Scalple" depending on how far you want to get away from the original idea.

Dice, how much traffic does your site get? Depending on that, I'd be happy to host it for you or recommend a very good, low-cost hosting company.

Pete, I don't get very much about 10,000 hits per month and I'm not sure of the bandwidth useage. You have been more than nice to me in the past and I don't want to be a burden on you or your server and I do hope to contune to grow in the future. If you could recommend a good provider that can grow with my site I would be happy.

What I need is about 250-500 meg of space (for the next year anyway) and a desent bandwidth alotment and transfer rate per month, and a way to track bandwidth useage.

Thanks Pete for your help.

Dice, we host the main a-10.org site on ihost.biz. Plans vary depending on the amount of bandwidth and disk space needed. Excellent prices, very speedy connections and superb customer support the few times I've needed it. Starts at $12/mo for 200mb of space and 5GB of traffic.

Click here and if you sign up I'll get some sort of referral bonus. http://www.iHost.biz/Default.asp?ReferralID=PeteNelson

Here Dice, my ideas:

The Warthog PE team: Ugly, Precise, and we wouldn't have it any other way.

or

The Hog PE team: The others can put a bomb through a door; WE'll put it through a tank turret hole.- it's kinda' stretching it, but they got the idea.

I will look into your ISP and will more-than-likely cahnge-over now or in March.

All thanks for your inputs, what about an image to go with the phrases.

Here's an early design....

ROFL EXCELLENT!
FINALLY got to see the pic, the CBU has to go, maybee for a JDAM. Or the CBU could be replaced for an LGB and the Hawg could get a red LASER eyeball and beam.

All you need to add is a little cloud signifying the "dream" of PE...the pipe dream that it is. We don't need to become a 300 kt LGPOS's running around dropping JDAMs and WCMD's on coordinates and spending three days in front of a laptop just to go to the range. Give me a grease pencil and a map and I'm good.

Technology works best when it matters least.

I dont think Coach wants SADL when going up against the indians. He wants a Saddle and a couple bandeliers of ammo, a mask and Torch. Cause hell is commen with him!

I so love westerns..

Whiskey and a pickup, the truth of how the west was won and how technology squandered the adventure.

Hehe, well Coach I have made the same argument(s) at the bar after a few PE meetings and have been received like someone who doesn’t want to see the A-10 move in the 21st Century or an old Crew Chief stuck in the past. Truth be told I would have liked to see the money spent on making the A-10 more survivable in the environment it was meant to operate in, comet, a good data link (be it SADL or JITERS), and a better ECM/ALE system(s) are the way I would have gone but…

I’m also smart enough to know this train has gained enough steam and to jump in front of it is suicide. I have decided instead to jump onboard and try to make the system we are getting the best for both the operator and maintainer as I can with my limited inputs. I also hope, like has been shown in the past, the Hog drivers can take want is given them and adapt the parts they can use to make the A-10 a more deadly weapons system for the enemy and more survivable aircraft for themselves.

I hope I don’t see the A-10 flying missions at 20,000 feet (OK no jokes here) dropping LGBs/WCMD on targets without ever seeing them but, I do hope to see the pods capabilities and the MFDs resolution power used to find, ID, and then destroyed targets in true Hog fashion from longer ranges with better SA for the pilot.

NO OFFENSE!!

eh... eh... don't understand me wrong,, but i'm not that enthousiast about that patch/logo....

Remind the composition.. to many empty spaces etc...

I think I've the right to give that opinion because I studied at one of the most famous Dutch schools or art :-)

This patch looks far to friendly... think the Hawg is more agressive....

Tha Hawg: the Tankcommaders wurse nightmare! this looks more like the Flintstones :-)

Well no offence taken but.... if you read the title and the posts above ^ you will see I was asking for ideas for a new patch design and a saying to place on it because we were/are not happy with the one posted above.

So how about putting all you learned at "the most famous Dutch schools or art" to use and show me something better!!

Oke brainstorm, just some keywords

Warthog
GAU-Avenger
Mud
Low Altitude
Tank
Death
Fear
Punch
7 barrels
looking is tha barrel of a gun
dark-green
crushing smashing
horatio
agression

You can choose between 2 styles:
cartoon or 'realistic/straight'

I should give the barrels of the GAU-Avenger a major role in the design,,, that caracteristic for the hawg...

Round patch and the seven barrel surrounding the outline of the patch.. in the middle another picture.. tone-down (green)

another option: use the basic F-16 Viper patch and repaint this one.. this will be a joke to the viper-community.. you know what patch i mean? I will search for it and post it in a next topic...

I think a cartoon styles patch is fun but not that agressive like a serious design... Cartoons are for ladderdoor art & nose-art not for a patch i think.....

more brainstorms later, don't think i've give you real new input but maybe it comes.. if you like our squadron patch I can contact you with the designer of that patch he also creates several patches for Dutch squadrons as well (real AF sqd's)

I was talking about that fighting falcon patch

maybe it's an idea to restyle that viper-patch, as you know this is a standard patch for F-16 squadrons...

skip that eagle and put a Warthog with a GAU-evenger up there... , A-10 Warthog Grunt collector, A-10 Killing Warthog, A-10 terrorizing Warthog ... ???

all Air Force pilot will understand the clue
