Before this day is done, I look back and reflect on one hundred years of flight, begun by two humble and dedicated bicycle shop owners by the names of Orville and Wilbur Wright, who changed our world for ever through tenacity and perserverence, and this great nation of United States, which allowed them the freedom to pursue and achieve their dreams.

To you, I thank and honor.

Yeah, what Horrido said.

And think about this: 60, Only 60 years after that humble beginning we had a plane that could fly 3x's the speed of sound and 100,OOO' off the ground; and 6 years after that, we were putting people on the moon.

Aww The europeans only beat them a few weeks, and their Aircraft was much inferior, it wasn't even a controlable flight. The wright brothers came out with the first CONTROLABLE aircaft, with their wing warping

Wilbur and Orvil wright, 1903, how basic the kitty hawk looked, 100 years later, mach 3 fighter jets, (thanks to the russians and the mig25), super sonic transports, (Concord and TU144), and passenger jets that can carry nearly 500 passengers, (747, A380 etc).

if they were to be shown the huge C5 Galaxy and the Antonov AN225, as well as the latest military hardware, I think they would be very proud. They have created a big legacy in their name.

If I am correct in my measurements, they could have CONDUCTED their first flight WITHIN a C-5. lol

In many ways, though, their aircraft was VERY advanced. Look at their features, such as canards and wing-warping, which are making a comeback in current designs and research craft.

"their flight could be conducted in a C5", now is that a short flight OR a big aircraft!
