Hawg166 I know the two YA-10s had escapacs in them and I belive the 6 pre-production aircraft may had had them also but I thought the production aircraft had the ACEII, maybe Coach or A10stress can help us out with an answer.

Also I'm a bit confuesed Dana, do you have this aircraft somewhere and looking for info on it or do you just have parts of the aircraft?

All of the early birds had the Douglas Escapacs in them the A10 had the IE-9

The later varient of the "Stapac" Stabilised booster Roocket was incorporated into the Aces2. The Rails For the Aces 2 and the Escapac/Stapac. Are identical. The Aces 2 was the Drop in upgrade. All escapacs were discontinued.

later UpCO took over the ACES2 Series.

When I got to D-M in 78 all the 75 and 76 year jets had the ESCAPAC seats in them. We had a massive TCTO effort in 79 to refit all the jets with the ACESII. THe jets after that came with the ACES II seat.

Well Dana I guees the part of this aircraft's histroy which ties to the seat is it was stationed at Barksdale AFB LA from 1976-1982 with that seat was installed, it was used in the training of new Hog drivers.

I'll see if I have any photos....

Dana, either my info is wrong or incomplete because I show 76-0524 as only being stationed two places, Barksdale and DAVIS MONTHAN AFB AZ. and the MB tail code you speak of was Myrtle Beach SC.??

Can you scan the photo and post it?

I seem to remember that tail number being in the 358th while I was at D-M.

Dana, yep that's Myrtle Beach (the pic you sent me) and I went back and looked at my data again and there is a gap in it. My listing first shows 524 at Barksdale LA but the date is 1982 and she's a 76 model. I would say she was assigned to MB from the time it rolled of the line in 76/77 until 1982 when it was transfered to BD. Hope this helps and thanks for forcesing me to look at my data closer, I will update my info to include the MB assignment.
